About Luminary
Luminary is an ARPG‑lite that blends solo play with easy drop‑in‑drop‑out co‑op for up to three online players and a planned local couch mode. The game offers forgiving combat, a real‑time skill‑based system, and a hand‑crafted world that can be explored via climbing, swimming, gliding and more.
Players create a character from six fantasy races, customize appearance, and retain progression across solo and multiplayer sessions. The early‑access title features half of a 2 km² open zone, with plans for a larger map, varied traversal, and a mix of enemies, mini‑bosses and a future main boss.
01 / THE GUIDE
Combat System
Luminary uses a real‑time skill‑based combat system where players can switch between melee, ranged and magic at the press of a button. Sword / shield and bow are available at launch, with more weapon types promised later.
Combat includes blocking, dodging and dynamic weapon swaps, aiming to keep fights fluid and accessible for newcomers while still offering depth for experienced players.
- Experiment with quick weapon swaps to discover combos that suit each enemy type.
- Use blocking and dodging together to mitigate damage during tougher encounters.

Co‑op Multiplayer
The game supports drop‑in‑drop‑out online co‑op for up to three players, with a future 2‑player local couch option. No special setup is required; friends can join any session and keep their own character progression.
Progress made in solo play carries over to co‑op, and vice‑versa, allowing seamless transitions between solo adventures and group activities such as mining, fishing or base destruction.
- Coordinate roles (e.g., miner, fighter) to maximize resource gathering in co‑op.
- Join a friend’s session to experience their world without affecting your own progress.

03 / THE GUIDE
Character Creator
Luminary includes a simplified creator offering six races, multiple hairstyles, beards, makeup and other visual options. Players can craft a unique look before embarking on their adventure.
The created character is persistent; the same avatar is used across solo runs, co‑op sessions and future New Game + playthroughs, ensuring continuity of appearance and progression.
- Choose a race that matches your preferred playstyle for easier role‑playing.
- Save a few variations of your character’s look for fun role‑play in co‑op.

Open Zone Map
Half of a 2 km² open zone is available at launch, featuring diverse terrain that can be traversed by climbing, swimming, gliding and other locomotion methods. Hidden treasures are scattered throughout the area.
Future updates promise a larger map, additional traversal tools, and expanded content such as larger towers to liberate and more enemy camps to destroy.
- Explore high ground to spot hidden treasure locations.
- Use gliding to reach distant points quickly and avoid unnecessary combat.

Progression & Difficulty
Experience points earned from combat and activities feed a character progression system that persists across solo and co‑op play. Defeating the map’s end boss unlocks higher difficulty tiers with tougher enemies and greater rewards.
Town NPCs such as the Blacksmith, Armorer, Arcanist and Chef can be leveled up, unlocking better equipment for sale and crafting, and these upgrades carry over into New Game +.
- Aim for higher difficulty tiers after each boss to maximize XP gains.
- Upgrade town NPCs early to access stronger gear for upcoming challenges.
