About LORED
LORED is an idle‑incremental single‑player title where stick‑figure workers generate Iron, Copper and a mysterious resource called Malignancy. You assign LOREDs to work, buy Upgrades, and keep them fueled to grow your resource pool.
The game features four Upgrade Stages, a prestige system that consumes your current host, and 63 uniquely animated LOREDs that speak to each other. Since its 2019 launch it has been rebuilt with new Upgrade trees and runs on Windows and Linux with partial controller support and Steam Cloud.
01 / THE GUIDE
Resource Collection
Each LORED produces a steady stream of Iron, Copper or Malignancy, which act as the game’s currency. The output of a LORED adds directly to your total resources and can be spent on Upgrades or fuel.
Resources do not appear automatically; they are generated only while LOREDs are assigned to work. Managing the number of active LOREDs therefore controls the rate at which you can acquire new Upgrades.
- Compare the output per LORED before expanding your workforce.
- Watch fuel levels to avoid a sudden drop in resource generation.
02 / THE GUIDE
Upgrade System
Upgrades are purchased with the resources you have collected and are organized into four tiered Stages. Higher‑tier Upgrades cost more resources but provide larger boosts to LORED performance.
The most powerful Upgrades require you to consume your current host, which triggers a prestige event. The source notes only that these Upgrades require a prestige; it does not specify what progress is reset or unlocked.
- Balance spending between new LOREDs and Upgrades to keep fuel sufficient.
- Check the resource cost of an Upgrade against the output increase it provides.

LORED Characters
There are 63 distinct LOREDs, each with its own animation and occasional spoken commentary. Their visual differences give each worker a unique appearance on screen.
LOREDs can think out loud and may reply to each other or to you between management phases, providing optional flavor text but no documented gameplay effects.
- Observe the animations for any visual cue of activity level.
- Listen to dialogue for hints about resource status or upcoming prestige.

Prestige Mechanics
Prestige occurs when you activate a high‑tier Upgrade that consumes your current host. The source documents only that the Upgrade consumes your current host and requires a prestige, without detailing what is reset or granted.
Leveling a LORED doubles both its output and its input (fuel) requirements, so prestige timing must consider the increased consumption that follows each level‑up.
- Track how output doubles after each LORED level to anticipate fuel needs.
- Prestige when the next Upgrade tier offers a clear multiplier advantage.

Platform Features
LORED runs on Windows and Linux and includes partial controller support, allowing limited interaction via a gamepad. Steam Cloud is listed as a supported feature for saving progress between sessions.
Family Sharing is listed as a feature, meaning the game can be accessed by multiple accounts on the same device without altering gameplay mechanics.
- Enable Steam Cloud to keep your data safe across computers.
- Test controller input early to see which actions are supported.
