About LIGHTNING RETURNS: FINAL FANTASY XIII
Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII concludes the saga with Lightning’s final battle against a world sinking into chaos. Players control Lightning, exploring a constantly moving environment while managing a thirteen‑day time limit. The PC version adds full‑screen and windowed modes, high‑end graphics options, and all previously released DLC except one costume. Customisation, action‑oriented combat, and time‑based missions shape the single‑player experience.
01 / THE GUIDE
Playable Lightning
Lightning is the sole playable character, offering a broad set of techniques for both combat and exploration. Her outfits and weapons not only change appearance but also affect actions and abilities.
The game provides a direct control battle system, a departure from earlier series titles, while retaining familiar series elements.
- Experiment with different outfits to discover how they alter Lightning’s abilities.
- Use the keyboard‑only option if you prefer precise control without a controller.
02 / THE GUIDE
Time Management
The world faces total annihilation in thirteen days, limiting access to certain areas, missions, and characters based on the in‑game clock. Players must decide how to allocate their remaining time.
Missions and locations appear only during specific periods, encouraging strategic planning.
- Prioritise missions that unlock new areas early in the countdown.
- Check the in‑game clock frequently to avoid missing time‑locked events.

Customisation & DLC
Players can customise Lightning with numerous outfits, weapons, and schemata, many of which come from downloadable content. All original DLC except the “FFVII Aerith” costume is included.
The PC version also adds Japanese voice‑overs and various costumes, shields, and weapons.
- Review the DLC list to see which schemata are available before planning your load‑out.
- Remember that the “FFVII Aerith” schemata is not part of this pack and will not be added later.

- Adjust shadow processing and texture filters for smoother performance on mid‑range hardware.
- Use windowed mode if you need to multitask while playing.
