About Light Bearers
Light Bearers is an asymmetrical multiplayer hide‑and‑seek game where one player becomes the Shadow and the rest start as Light Bears. The Shadow tries to infect Light Bears; infected players turn into Shadow Bears that then assist the Shadow in hunting the remaining Light Bears.
All bears are played from a first‑person perspective, while most Shadows are shown in third‑person to give broader situational awareness. The free‑to‑play version includes two Shadows, and a full‑game DLC adds every available Shadow and additional visual customization options.
01 / THE GUIDE
Gameplay Basics
Each round begins with a single Shadow selected and all other participants starting as Light Bears. The Shadow’s objective is to infect Light Bears, turning them into Shadow Bears that then help capture the remaining Light Bears.
If every Light Bear reaches the Light Pool before being infected, the Light Bears win the round; otherwise, the Shadow wins by infecting all Light Bears before the timer expires.
- Watch how many Light Bears remain to see when the Shadow’s team is gaining momentum.
- Coordinate routes toward the Light Pool to cover multiple escape paths.

Roles & Win Conditions
Light Bears aim to avoid infection and reach the Light Pool, while Shadow Bears (formerly Light Bears) assist the Shadow in hunting any survivors. The win condition for each side depends on which role a player holds at any moment.
When a Light Bear becomes infected, their objective switches from escaping to supporting the Shadow, creating a team dynamic that can accelerate the infection process.
- Remember that becoming a Shadow Bear changes your goal to helping the Shadow.
- Protect newly turned Shadow Bears to increase infection speed.

Perspective & View
All bears, Light or Shadow, are played in first‑person, providing an immersive view of the environment for every participant.
Most Shadows are displayed in third‑person, which grants them a wider field of view and situational awareness compared to Light Bears.
- Use the third‑person view as a Shadow to monitor several Light Bears at once.
- Leverage the first‑person view as a Light Bear to focus on nearby hiding spots.

Abilities & Map Mechanics
Light Bears have a Dash ability that lets them quickly move out of danger, and the maps contain scattered hiding spots that aid avoidance. Shadow Bears can create walls to block escape routes and use teleport points for rapid movement.
These abilities interact with map features: Dash helps reach hiding spots or the Light Pool, while walls and teleports let Shadows control flow and chase efficiently.
- Combine Dash with a nearby hiding spot for sudden, unpredictable movement.
- Use Shadow teleports to flank Light Bears rather than chasing directly.
