About Life, the Universe, and Restaurants

In *Life, the Universe, and Restaurants* you manage a space‑borne eatery, taking orders, gathering ingredients, preparing, plating and serving dishes while dashing between the kitchen and customer tables. You can record your whole routine so robots repeat it, handling tasks such as cooking, serving, moving Coins and cleaning.

The aim is to meet the business targets for each stage, climbing from a 1‑Star outlet to a 5‑Star flagship. As you advance you earn Coins, unlock new recipes, buy cookware, acquire extra plots, add more tables and hire additional robots, expanding both the menu and the operation.

01 / THE GUIDE

Cooking and Automation

You start by manually collecting ingredients, processing them, plating the meals and delivering them to customers. While you run this loop, you may capture the exact sequence of actions; the game then lets robots replay that script, taking over order taking, cooking, serving, Coin transport and cleanup.

Multiple cooking robots can be linked together, allowing them to tackle recipes that require several preparation steps. By arranging robots in a chain you can turn a hectic kitchen into a smoother production line, which becomes essential as recipes grow more intricate.

  • Identify the longest manual actions and assign those to dedicated robots.
  • Test different robot chain orders to keep the workflow steady.

02 / THE GUIDE

Star Progression

The restaurant begins at 1 Star and can be upgraded through five levels by completing the specific business objectives tied to each tier. Each promotion unlocks additional purchasable plots, recipes, structures, robots, advertisements, talents and management options.

Higher star levels also introduce more demanding dishes and larger customer flows, encouraging you to redesign the layout, improve traffic patterns and increase overall production capacity to meet the new challenges.

  • Secure new plots early to give yourself room for extra robots and facilities.
  • Match the complexity of recipes with the number of robots you have available.

03 / THE GUIDE

Advertising and Management

Ads, posters and TVs let you steer customer choices, raising profits for selected dishes or nudging patrons toward a curated menu. These tools let you shape your strategy around dish pricing, order frequency, serving speed and the efficiency of your automation.

By focusing on a particular cuisine type, rotating the menu, or reacting to queue length, Coin balance or special events, you can push daily revenue higher and tailor the business to your preferred play style.

  • Try each ad medium separately to see which dishes see the biggest profit lift.
  • Watch queue length and adjust pricing or menu focus when it spikes.

04 / THE GUIDE

Customer Behaviour and Defence

Customers are described as "gods" whose patience can be worn down by elements such as trash bins or lighting. When patience reaches zero they enter a rage state, and the game permits you to eliminate them and harvest their Brains under regulatory provisions.

Harvested Brains are used to upgrade talents and unlock more powerful brain‑based robots. These new units, including turret robots and guards, can be placed to protect the restaurant from further disruptions.

  • Observe which patience‑draining objects cause rage fastest and time defensive actions accordingly.
  • Prioritise brain‑based talent upgrades that address your current bottleneck.

05 / THE GUIDE

Platform and Controls

The title runs on Windows in a single‑player mode and offers full controller support, a keyboard‑only option and the ability to play without timed input. Steam Cloud, leaderboards and family sharing are also listed as supported features.

These options give you flexibility in how you approach the game, letting you choose between gamepad or keyboard input while keeping progress saved online and comparing scores with other players.

  • If you prefer precise input, select the keyboard‑only mode.
  • Enable Steam Cloud to keep your save data backed up.
