About Last Train Outta' Wormtown
Last Train Outta' Wormtown pits a single Worm against a team of Cowboys in chaotic online matches. The Worm can only detect players who touch the ground, while the Cowboys must cooperate to complete objectives and escape the town. The game offers free‑to‑join sessions via a Friend’s Pass, deep cosmetic customization, randomized maps, and a variety of challenges, all supported on Windows with partial controller compatibility and Steam features like achievements and cloud saves.
01 / THE GUIDE
Asymmetrical Gameplay
One player controls the Worm, using burrowing speed and special abilities to hunt the Cowboys. The remaining players act as Cowboys, called ‘pardners’, who must avoid touching sand to stay hidden from the Worm. Cowboys work together to complete objectives and reach the exit, while the Worm tries to locate and eliminate them before they escape.
- Stay airborne or on elevated surfaces to reduce detection.
- Coordinate jumps and climbs to create safe paths for teammates.

Friend’s Pass System
Only the lobby host needs to purchase the game; all other participants can join for free. This design encourages larger groups, game nights, and streamer community play without each player buying a copy. The free participants still have full access to the match while the host controls settings and map selection.
- Host a session early to give friends ample time to join.
- Use the pass for casual play before committing to a purchase.

Customization & Challenges
Both Worm and Cowboys have extensive cosmetic options that unlock through completing over 100 challenges. These challenges reward skins and other visual items, letting players personalize their look. Customization does not affect core gameplay, but it provides a sense of progression as players complete challenges.
- Focus on easy challenges first to quickly unlock cosmetics.
- Mix and match skins to create a unique team aesthetic.

Map Randomization & Themes
Each round features a randomly generated layout, ensuring no two matches feel identical. Maps also include festive themes that add to the visual atmosphere of each round. Randomization keeps strategies fresh, requiring Cowboys to adapt their routes and the Worm to explore new terrain each game.
- Scout the map early to identify safe routes.
- Adapt quickly when familiar landmarks shift.

Multiplayer Modes & Lobby
The game supports 16‑player lobbies with public browsing, allowing players to join matches quickly. Both online and LAN options are available for co‑op or PvP sessions. Match settings are fully customizable, letting hosts tailor the experience to their group’s preferences.
- Adjust match settings to balance difficulty for mixed skill levels.
- Use the public lobby browser to find active games.
