About Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess
Kunitsu‑Gami: Path of the Goddess is a single‑player Kagura Action Strategy title set on Mt. Kafuku, a mountain shrouded in defilement. By day you cleanse villages and ready yourself; by night you guard the Maiden Yoshiro against the Seethe that pour from Torii Gates.
The game blends sword‑dance combat with tactical placement of villagers. Survive each night, lead Yoshiro to a Torii while the sun is still up, and purify it with her Kagura dance to gradually restore peace across the mountain.
01 / THE GUIDE
Day Cycle & Purification
During daylight you move through villages, preparing for the coming night. The primary objective is to escort Yoshiro to a Torii Gate while the sun is still up. If you succeed, her Kagura dance purifies the gate and removes defilement.
Purifying a gate requires surviving any Seethe attacks until dawn and reaching the gate before sunset. Each successful purification restores a portion of the mountain’s peace and opens the path for the next cycle.
- Observe the timing of sunrise to ensure you have enough daylight for the escort.
- Prioritize clearing nearby threats before moving Yoshiro toward the gate.

Night Cycle & Seethe Defense
When the sun sets, the Seethe emerge from Torii Gates and attack under darkness. Their varied abilities target Yoshiro, making her protection critical. Soh uses dance‑like sword attacks to fend off the hordes.
Night battles test both reflexes and positioning. The Seethe’s attacks are diverse, so adapting your sword style and timing is essential to keep Yoshiro safe until sunrise.
- Focus on the Seethe that move closest to Yoshiro first.
- Use the rhythm of sword attacks to create space for villagers.

Villager Roles & Strategy
Villagers are assigned roles that influence where they fight and how they support Soh. Choosing effective placements can shift the tide of battle, especially when the Seethe attack in waves.
Strategic decisions include which villagers to position near Yoshiro, which to send forward against clusters, and which enemies Soh should prioritize. Constant changes during combat require flexible tactics.
- Experiment with different villager placements to see which best block Seethe paths.
- Balance offensive villagers with those that can shield Yoshiro.

Sword‑Dance Combat
Soh wields a sword that delivers attacks described as dance‑like. The combat feels rhythmic, encouraging players to time strikes with the flow of the Seethe’s movements.
Even though the Seethe have many attack patterns, the sword’s fluidity lets you respond without needing separate combat systems. Mastering the rhythm can make even large hordes manageable.
- Practice the timing of each sword swing to match enemy cues.
- Treat each attack as a step in a dance to maintain flow.

Japanese‑Inspired Aesthetic
The game’s setting draws heavily from Japanese culture, featuring Kagura dance, traditional masks, and background music that reinforces the atmosphere of Mt. Kafuku.
These cultural elements are woven into both visual design and gameplay moments, such as Yoshiro’s Kagura dance used for purification, giving the experience a distinct thematic flavor.
- Notice how the music changes between day and night to cue gameplay shifts.
- Appreciate the mask designs as visual cues for character roles.
