About Korea. IL-2 Series
Korea. IL-2 Series places players in the Korean War, where piston‑engine fighters meet the first jet aircraft. The title blends realistic flight simulation with accessible controls, offering both cockpit dogfights and strategic regiment oversight.
The game features the series’ largest map—over 200,000 km² of the Korean Peninsula—filled with historically accurate airbases, settlements and objectives, and supports gamepads, joysticks, HOTAS devices and full VR immersion.
01 / THE GUIDE
Massive Korean Peninsula Map
The map spans more than 200,000 square kilometres, the biggest in the series, and is built from 1950s maps and documents. It shows reclaimed coastlines, historic landscape changes and dozens of airbases with period‑accurate layouts.
Dozens of settlements, ports, dams and transport hubs populate the terrain. Players can plot routes across this expanse, issue squadron orders and influence the flow of battle through strategic positioning.
- Use the map’s strategic points to set up ambushes for enemy aircraft.
- When planning jet sorties, avoid routes that rely on small forward airstrips.

Historical Aircraft Selection
Eight aircraft are available, recreated from blueprints, photographs and flight manuals. The core lineup includes the F‑51 Mustang and the F‑80 Shooting Star; the La‑11 and F‑84E Thunderjet require the Premium/Deluxe editions or separate DLC.
Every cockpit instrument functions in real time, mirroring the aircraft’s actual systems. The campaign lets players switch between piston‑engine and jet aircraft, reflecting early‑war constraints on jet runway availability.
- Try both piston and jet planes to understand their handling differences.
- Consult the performance charts in the museum for each aircraft’s specifications.

Home by Christmas Campaign
The single‑player campaign follows Captain Jack Russell’s 1950 transfer to a combat unit, aiming to become a jet ace. Fifteen missions are drawn from the 8th Fighter‑Bomber Wing’s combat logs and pilot memoirs, highlighting early‑war challenges.
Players fly both the F‑51 Mustang and the F‑80 Shooting Star, mirroring the historical transition between piston and jet aircraft caused by limited jet runway options in the war’s first months.
- Read mission briefings for clues about runway constraints.
- Select the F‑51 for missions that start from small forward airstrips.

Career Mode Regiment Command
In Career mode, players act as an air regiment commander, handling personnel, logistics and combat readiness. The role lets you decide whether to fly missions personally or focus on strategic tasks such as planning operations and reinforcing units.
A personal museum is available at any time, allowing detailed inspection of aircraft, ground vehicles and naval vessels, with performance charts and technical specifications for comparison.
- Balance personal flying with management duties to keep the regiment ready.
- Use the museum to study enemy aircraft before engaging.

VR, Motion Capture and Full Controller Support
The title supports full VR via OpenXR and OpenVR, letting players leave the cockpit and walk around their airfield. Motion‑capture animation provides lifelike movement for pilots, soldiers and civilians.
Gamepads, joysticks and professional HOTAS systems are all compatible, and the game can be played without timed input sequences, offering both immersion and accessibility.
- Try VR mode to experience the airfield walk‑around firsthand.
- If you prefer immediate action, use a gamepad for quick take‑offs.
