About Kernel Hearts
Kernel Hearts blends action‑RPG combat with roguelike runs, placing you in the M.A.H.O.U Unit as you scale the Tower of Babel. Your mission is to defeat angelic enemies, overthrow a deity, and rescue a world awash in ash.
After each ascent you return to a laboratory backup where earned rewards let you equip chips onto your Unit’s MAHOU.OS and briefly transform into a magical girl. The game supports up to four players online and runs on Windows with several controller options.
01 / THE GUIDE
Tower Climbing
Each run sends you upward through the Tower of Babel, confronting angelic creatures that block your progress. The design encourages mixing attacks, spells, and movement to create combos that clear enemies efficiently.
Every level ends with a boss fight against the domain’s guardian, providing a heightened challenge before you can continue higher. Each run presents its own encounters as you climb higher.
- Try different attack‑spell pairings to discover high‑damage combos.
- Watch the boss’s early patterns to plan movement and spell timing.

Chip Customization
When a run ends you return to the laboratory backup and can spend the rewards earned. Those rewards unlock and equip up to 256 KB of chips onto your Unit’s MAHOU.OS, shaping your abilities for the next ascent.
Customization occurs between runs, allowing you to adjust your loadout before climbing again. You can customize the chips you equip as you see fit.
- Balance offensive and defensive chips to handle varied enemy types.
- Keep a few spare chips for quick swaps when testing new strategies.

03 / THE GUIDE
Magical Girl Transformation
The tower’s power can be harnessed to lift the Heavenly Curse, triggering a temporary magical‑girl form. While transformed you unleash a devastating attack on nearby foes.
The transformation lasts only a short period before you revert to normal. Timing its activation can dramatically affect the outcome of crowded fights or boss phases.
- Activate the transformation when surrounded by multiple foes for maximum impact.
- Consider using it just before a boss’s heavy‑damage phase to reduce incoming harm.

Co‑op Multiplayer
Kernel Hearts offers online co‑op for up to four players, letting friends join your tower runs. Each participant can mix their own attacks, spells, and movement to create joint combos.
Co‑op play follows the same tower structure, with all players contributing to enemy clearance and boss battles. Features such as Cross‑Platform Multiplayer and DualSense support are listed.
- Coordinate combo timing with teammates to maximize damage spikes.
- Communicate boss phases so everyone knows when to focus fire.

Audio options include Stereo and Surround Sound, while comfort and audio features such as Camera Comfort and Custom Volume Controls are available, catering to varied player preferences.
- Try a DualSense controller if your hardware supports it.
- Adjust volume controls to suit your listening environment during intense fights.
