About Junkyard Simulator
Junkyard Simulator drops you into a junkyard where you begin with nothing but a hangover and the freedom to choose how to make money. You can wander the map on foot or hop into any of the available vehicles to search for scrap, containers, and broken items.
The early‑access title lets you process metal with machines, restore cars for display, compress vehicles, renovate furniture and parts, and sell everything you find on the Scrap Market. It is a single‑player game featuring Steam Achievements, DualShock and partial controller support, Steam Cloud and Family Sharing.
01 / THE GUIDE
Heavy Machinery Processing
The description notes that you can use heavy machinery to turn junk into raw metal. Processing metal with machines is highlighted as a quick way to increase wealth, making it a core early activity.
Because machines are listed as a separate mechanic, players can focus on locating junk, feeding it to the equipment, and collecting the resulting metal for later sale on the Scrap Market.
- Observe how many pieces of junk a single machine can handle before it needs refilling.
- Compare the time required for processing different types of metal if you experiment with multiple machines.
02 / THE GUIDE
Vehicle Restoration
You can find old, broken‑down cars and restore them to their former glory, with the description stating that restored cars can be proudly displayed in your workshop.
Restoration is presented as an alternative activity to raw processing, giving players a visual goal without tying it directly to the selling system.
- Take note of which car parts you keep after stripping a vehicle for future projects.
- Balance the time spent on a single restoration against the number of other tasks you could start.

03 / THE GUIDE
Tow‑Truck Compression
A tow truck can transport abandoned vehicles and compress them until they resemble a small cube, as described in the official text.
This mechanic provides a way to reduce the space taken by large items, allowing you to move more junk with limited cargo capacity.
- Test compression on vehicles of different sizes to see how the final cube volume changes.
- Observe whether compressed cubes affect how many items you can carry at once.
04 / THE GUIDE
Workshop Renovation
In the workshop you can renovate old furniture, electrical appliances, and car parts. The description links renovation directly to earning more money.
Renovated items are treated as a distinct category that can be sold, giving players a clear incentive to improve raw finds before listing them.
- Group similar items before renovating to streamline the workflow.
- Compare the market price of a raw item with its renovated counterpart when you have both available.
05 / THE GUIDE
Scrap Market Sales
All of your finds and renovated items can be sold on the Scrap Market, providing the final step for converting collected junk into cash.
The market supports multiple profit routes, from raw metal to renovated goods, letting you decide which items to prioritize for sale.
- Track which item categories you sell most often to see where your time is spent.
- Balance bulk sales of many small items with occasional sales of larger, renovated pieces.
