About Into the Breach
Into the Breach: Advanced Edition expands the core turn‑based strategy with five new mech squads, nearly forty new weapons, four new pilots, additional enemies, bosses, mission objectives, and an “Unfair” difficulty. The game still tasks you with defending civilian buildings from the Vek, an alien threat beneath the earth.
Each mission is randomly generated, and every enemy attack is telegraphed before it occurs, allowing you to plan a counter each turn. If you are defeated, the game lets you send help back through time to attempt the same timeline again.
01 / THE GUIDE
New Mechs and Weapons
The Advanced Edition adds five additional mech squads, increasing the variety of units you can field on each island. Any of these squads may be equipped with the nearly forty new weapons introduced in the update.
These new weapons broaden the tactical options available for each turn, letting you choose load‑outs that suit the specific enemies and mission objectives that appear in the randomly generated challenges.
- Experiment with different weapon‑mech pairings to see which combinations handle each enemy type best.
- Consider the mission objective when selecting a weapon, as some objectives may favor area damage while others favor single‑target fire.

New Pilot Abilities
Four new pilots join the roster, and the total number of pilot skills is tripled compared to the base game. Each pilot provides a distinct set of abilities that affect how a mech acts during a turn.
Choosing a pilot whose abilities complement a mech’s existing strengths can influence the outcome of a turn, especially when facing the new enemies and bosses added in this edition.
- Read each pilot’s skill list before assigning them to a mech.
- Match pilots with mechs that already excel in the area the pilot’s abilities enhance.

"Unfair" Mode
A new “Unfair” difficulty is included for players seeking a tougher test. This mode raises the challenge level while keeping the same telegraphed enemy attacks that define the core gameplay.
Success in “Unfair” mode relies on careful planning and effective use of the expanded mech, weapon, and pilot options introduced by the Advanced Edition.
- Practice on lower difficulties to become familiar with enemy patterns before attempting “Unfair”.
- Prioritize protecting civilian buildings early in each turn to maintain power.

Defending the Cities
Civilian buildings generate power for your mechs, making them essential to keep alive during a mission. Vek attacks frequently target these structures, so their survival directly impacts your ability to act.
Keeping buildings intact preserves the power supply, allowing you to continue using your mechs’ abilities throughout the battle.
- Position mechs to block Vek paths toward civilian buildings.
- Use area‑damage weapons to clear groups of Vek that threaten the city.

Another Chance Through Time
When a timeline ends in defeat, the game lets you send help back through time to alter the outcome. This mechanic ensures that failure is not permanent.
Using the time‑rescue feature encourages you to analyze the failed turn and try a different strategy on the same mission.
- Review the final board state before activating a time rescue.
- Adjust mech load‑outs based on the enemy pattern that caused defeat.
