About inbento
inbento is a chill pattern‑matching puzzle game where you assemble Japanese bento lunches while following a cute, textless story about a kitten family. Each puzzle gives you a limited set of ingredients and a picture of the finished dish, and you must rotate, move and insert pieces to recreate the recipe.
The game offers over 120 meals, gradually introducing new mechanics such as swapping, removing and copying ingredients. It runs at a relaxed pace, requires no cooking knowledge, and rewards each completed chapter with interactive illustrations that expand the family narrative.

Puzzle Mechanics
Every puzzle starts with a fixed pool of ingredients and a visual of the target bento. Players rotate, move and insert items in the correct order to match the picture, revealing the original recipe.
As you progress, the game adds actions like swapping, removing and copying ingredients, making later puzzles more intricate while keeping the core pattern‑matching feel.
- Observe the final illustration closely before placing pieces; visual cues often hint at required rotations.
- When a new mechanic appears, try it on a simple ingredient first to see its effect.

Story Progression
Finishing each chapter unlocks an interactive illustration that shows moments from the kitten family’s life, highlighting the ups and downs of parenthood. These scenes are presented without dialogue, letting the visuals convey emotion.
The story unfolds gradually as you complete meals, providing a gentle narrative thread that rewards puzzle completion with new family snapshots.
- Take a moment to view each illustration; they add context to the otherwise silent story.
- Notice recurring themes in the family scenes—they often mirror the difficulty of the puzzles you just solved.

Ingredient Variety
Across the 120+ meals you encounter a wide range of food items, each represented by a distinct shape and color. New ingredients are introduced alongside fresh mechanics, encouraging you to adapt your placement strategy.
The limited ingredient count per puzzle forces you to think about order and placement, turning even familiar foods into fresh challenges.
- Group similar‑shaped ingredients mentally; it speeds up identification during the puzzle.
- When an ingredient seems out of place, consider whether a swap or removal mechanic is now available.
