About I wanna be The Cat
I wanna be The Cat is a roguelite platformer that mixes precise platforming with a massive community‑driven level pool. Each run pulls from over 2000 community‑made stages, and a smart generator assembles them uniquely, so no two playthroughs look the same.
The title offers three distinct modes—Solo, Race, and Magic Tower—each with its own objectives, from surviving with a limited life pool to competing against up to eight players online. Difficulty can be altered at any moment, and permanent upgrades are purchasable between runs.
01 / THE GUIDE
Procedurally Generated Levels
Levels are built from a library of more than 2000 community creations, and a smart world generator arranges them uniquely for each playthrough. This means the layout, objects, and enemy placements differ every time you start a new run.
Because the arrangement changes each time, players must constantly adapt to new platforming challenges and enemy configurations, which creates a fresh and demanding experience on every attempt.
- Watch early sections for recurring trap types that often appear in generated layouts.
- Try several difficulty settings to see how level complexity varies with the generator.

Solo Mode
Solo mode starts you with 100 lives; you must finish the game before they run out. Losing all lives forces a restart from the beginning, but shops scattered throughout let you buy objects, skills, and additional lives.
At the end of each playthrough you can purchase permanent upgrades that carry over to future runs, providing a sense of progression despite the permadeath mechanic.
- Buy extra lives early if early sections feel overly punishing.
- Reserve coins for permanent upgrades that benefit multiple future attempts.

Race Mode
Race mode pits you against up to eight players in fast‑paced competitions. Races can be seeded or randomly generated and feature varying difficulties, with only one player able to claim the throne.
Racing against others makes speed and efficiency crucial as you try to outpace opponents through the generated content.
- Observe the routes of top finishers to discover shortcuts in seeded races.
- Adjust difficulty before a race to match your skill level and stay competitive.

Magic Tower Mode
Magic Tower unlocks after beating the game on hard difficulty. It is a key‑lock puzzle‑RPG style mode where you climb floors, defeat powerful enemies, and manage resources carefully.
A single run of Magic Tower can exceed five hours, offering a deep, strategic experience that differs from the core platforming challenge.
- Conserve health and items early to avoid shortages on higher floors.
- Study enemy patterns to plan efficient key‑lock solutions.

Difficulty Settings & Upgrades
Players can adjust difficulty at any time, scaling the challenge to match skill level. Throughout each run, shops sell objects, skills, and lives, while permanent upgrades become purchasable after completing a playthrough.
These systems balance the harshness of permadeath with rewarding progression, allowing you to tailor the experience and gradually become stronger.
- Raise difficulty temporarily to test tougher enemy behavior.
- Balance spending between immediate power‑ups and long‑term permanent upgrades.
