About Hodgepodge Hunch

Hodgepodge Hunch is a casual‑simulation where up to four participants—human or CPU—venture into dungeons to collect ingredients and charms, then combine them into a hot‑pot. Players are split into Staff, who aim to craft a high‑scoring dish, and a Spy, who tries to slip forbidden items into the pot.

The game mixes cooking mechanics with a hidden‑traitor mystery, offering online co‑op, PvP, cross‑platform multiplayer, Steam Achievements, Full controller support, Steam Cloud and Family Sharing. A solo mode and tutorials let newcomers practice the core loop before joining a full match.

01 / THE GUIDE

Gameplay Loop

Each round begins with Staff members exploring dungeons to gather ingredients and charms. After collection, players discuss, may ban others to limit what can be added, and finally place their chosen items into the communal pot.

When the pot is sealed, the game evaluates its composition. If the Staff have avoided forbidden ingredients and achieved a high score, they win; if the Spy has successfully introduced a forbidden item, the dish becomes a Hodgepodge and the Spy wins.

  • Watch which players suggest bans; frequent bans often indicate a Staff focus on protecting the pot.
  • Notice any ingredient that seems out of place—such items may be the Spy’s forbidden contribution.

02 / THE GUIDE

CPU and Solo Mode

When fewer than four human players are present, CPUs fill the remaining slots so a full roster is maintained. CPUs also appear in the Tutorials, allowing new players to learn the mechanics without waiting for others.

Solo Mode lets a single player run through the entire loop—collecting ingredients, managing bans, and completing the pot—against CPU opponents, providing a paced environment for practice.

  • Use Solo Mode to become comfortable with both Staff and Spy objectives before joining multiplayer games.
  • Observe how CPUs handle bans; their decisions can illustrate typical Staff strategies.

Multiplayer Features

The game supports online co‑op and PvP, letting up to four players join a match from different devices. Cross‑Platform Multiplayer enables Windows and macOS users to play together in the same session.

Additional listed features include Steam Achievements, Full controller support, Steam Cloud for saved data, and Family Sharing, which lets multiple accounts launch the game from a shared library.

  • Try matching with friends on another operating system to experience cross‑platform interaction.
  • Enable Steam Cloud so progress made in solo or multiplayer persists across devices.

04 / THE GUIDE

Story Context

The narrative follows former hero Cocotte, now working at a hot‑pot shop and competing in the Hotpot Contest. During preparation, the staff’s pot transforms into a dreaded Hodgepodge, suggesting sabotage.

The shop is also beset by demons, stalkers and assassins, adding flavor to the mystery of whether a Spy is truly among the staff.

  • Keep the traitor theme in mind when interpreting suspicious player actions.
  • Treat the invading demons and assassins as story flavor; they do not affect core gameplay.

05 / THE GUIDE

Win Conditions

Staff achieve victory by completing a hot‑pot that scores highly, which depends on the ingredients and charms they collected and on any bans they applied to protect the pot’s composition.

The Spy wins by successfully inserting a forbidden ingredient, causing the dish to become a Hodgepodge, and by spreading rumors that sow distrust among the Staff.

  • Track how many bans are used; a high number often reflects a defensive Staff approach.
  • Pay attention to rapid rumor spread, as it can signal Spy activity.
