About High Entropy: Challenges
High Entropy: Challenges is a free, action‑adventure first‑person shooter that mixes combat, stealth and computer interaction. The game begins with an intro and proceeds through fifteen distinct levels, ending with a default conclusion.
Finishing every level with a perfect 100 % score unlocks a special ending. It runs on Windows via Steam, offers full controller support, family sharing and Steam achievements, and is designed as a testbed for a larger commercial project.

Game Structure
The experience starts with an introductory segment and then moves through fifteen levels, each presenting its own obstacles and enemies. Completing all levels yields the default ending, while a perfect score across every level reveals a special ending.
Levels are built to allow varied approaches, letting players fight, sneak or use computers. Achievements such as Path of Fists and Path of Shadows track which style the player favors.
- Try both combat and stealth routes in a level to see which achievements become available.
- Monitor your score early if you are aiming for the special ending, which requires a perfect rating in every level.

Computer Interaction
Computers in the game feature graphical interfaces and a command‑line interface for players who prefer a hacker approach. Some secondary objectives and achievements specifically require command‑line use.
Manuals scattered throughout the levels gradually introduce command‑line commands. In level 7 a document placed next to a computer lists the exact commands needed for that unique puzzle.
- Read each manual you find; they teach command‑line commands step by step.
- Locate the document in level 7 before attempting the command‑line puzzle.

Multiple Solution Paths
Each level often provides more than one viable route, allowing a direct combat approach or a stealthier, less violent method. Achievements such as Path of Fists and Path of Shadows record which path the player chooses.
The levels are designed so there is always an alternative way to advance, with one exception in level 7, where the needed commands are written in a document next to the corresponding computer.
- Experiment with both combat and stealth routes to earn the related Path achievements.
- If you prefer avoiding direct confrontation, aim for the Path of Shadows achievement.

Platform Features
High Entropy: Challenges is available on Windows through Steam and supports full controller input, family sharing and Steam achievements. The game is single‑player only.
These features make the title accessible for a range of hardware setups and let multiple household members try the game via Steam’s sharing system.
- Use a supported controller for a seamless experience.
- Use family sharing to let other family members play without buying another copy.

Development Purpose
The free challenges mode serves as a testing ground for the developer’s planned extended commercial version, High Entropy. The planned extended commercial version would include this challenges mode and an exclusive story mode.
While the current game is complete in itself, it is explicitly positioned as a prototype to gauge interest for future expansion.
- Provide constructive feedback to the developer if you have ideas for the upcoming version.
- Consider how the current challenges could evolve into a larger narrative.
