About Heroes' Vow: Three Kingdoms

Heroes' Vow: Three Kingdoms is a single‑player RPG set in the late Han and Three Kingdoms era. Players assume the role of a hero who can act as a loyal general, a ruling lord, or a free officer, shaping history through combat, diplomacy, and family ties.

The game features a three‑tiered world, over 20 starting scenarios, more than 1,300 historical officers, and a narrative of over 2 million words. Core combat includes real‑time Legion Battles and turn‑based card Combat and Debates, while a deep social system lets you forge bonds, marry, and raise heirs.

01 / THE GUIDE

Three‑Tiered World Structure

The world is divided into three layers: a strategic world map for moving armies, city interfaces for governance, and local scenes for personal interactions. Each layer displays distinct visuals and gameplay, from territorial expansion to bustling urban life and intimate officer events.

Dynamic events occur across the tiers. On the map you may encounter bandits or trade caravans, cities offer commissions that reward resources, and local scenes provide officer quests and relationship opportunities, creating a responsive environment that reacts to player actions.

  • Switch between map and city views to locate expansion chances before committing troops.
  • Explore local scenes after battles to uncover hidden officer quests.

Historical Officers and Starting Scenarios

Players can begin from any of over 20 scenarios, ranging from the Yellow Turban Rebellion to the Battle of Xiling. Each scenario populates the world with more than 1,300 historical officers, each shown with full‑body animated portraits.

Before starting, you may create custom officers, and throughout gameplay randomly generated officers continue to appear, expanding the pool of potential allies, rivals, and narrative participants.

  • Select a scenario that aligns with your preferred role to streamline early progression.
  • Create a custom officer with complementary skills to fill early party gaps.

Core Combat Modes

Three combat systems are available: real‑time Legion Battles, turn‑based card Combat, and turn‑based Debates. Legion Battles require annihilating enemy forces and capturing buildings across more than 100 maps of five types: Field, Siege, County, Naval, and Pass.

Combat and Debates use card mechanics that let you cultivate Command Spirit, Martial Spirit, and Mind Spirit, then combine thousands of spirits and skills to build versatile officers for varied tactical situations.

  • Test different troop types on various map types to discover effective counters.
  • Balance the three spirit categories to keep options open in both Combat and Debates.

Multi‑Role Experience

Three distinct playstyles exist. As a Ruler you manage cities, invest surplus funds, develop technology, and launch campaigns to conquer enemy territories. You may also delegate city governance to Governors or trusted confidants.

As an Officer you earn merit, can become a Governor or Viceroy, and influence historic events. As a Free Officer you run trade convoys, build Private Barracks, and sign Mercenary Agreements, allowing you to raise private troops that can seize cities independently.

  • When playing as a Ruler, delegate city duties to free up time for exploration.
  • Free Officers can accelerate wealth by focusing on trade caravans before raising troops.

05 / THE GUIDE

Social Interactions and Family System

Officers can be befriended through conversation, gifts, sparring, and shared quests, deepening bonds to Friend, Best Friend, or Sworn Sibling. Romantic ties allow marriage, children, and the formation of a multi‑generational family that can provide powerful allies.

Family members may manage properties, run trading houses, and command Private Troops. Aristocratic clans also compete for market dominance and political influence, adding another layer of strategic consideration.

  • Cultivate friendships early to unlock unique officer quests.
  • Marry officers with complementary abilities to strengthen your family's overall capability.
