Campaign Structure
The campaign consists of 21 short levels that range from exploration‑focused areas with hidden secrets to large arenas packed with hundreds of enemies. Each level is designed to provide a different pacing, giving players both calm moments and intense combat.
A typical run on normal difficulty takes roughly three hours when the player does not actively seek out every secret. This time estimate reflects the intended length of the core experience without additional exploration.
- Observe the layout of each level early to decide whether you prefer exploration or combat focus.
- If you aim for a quick completion, concentrate on main objectives and skip optional secret hunts.

Survival Mode
Survival Mode pits the player against waves of enemies across four maps. The maps differ in layout, ranging from simple arenas to more complex spaces that include doors to unlock and traps to activate.
Random items can be looted while surviving waves of enemies, and the final score is recorded on a Steam leaderboard, allowing players to compare their performance with the broader community.
- Try each map to see which layout matches your preferred weapon and playstyle.
- Watch for loot as you fight so you can pick up items at moments that suit your playstyle.

Weapon Variety
Herald of Havoc provides 12 distinct weapons. Every weapon features a primary and secondary fire mode, and some weapons also include a tertiary special ability such as a lightning strike or a portal that summons skeleton allies.
The presence of multiple fire modes encourages experimentation, as each mode can change the way enemies are handled in both the campaign and Survival Mode.
- Test each weapon’s secondary fire to discover alternative combat options.
- When a weapon offers a tertiary ability, note its effect before committing to a fight.

Map Design
Four maps are available in Survival Mode, ranging from straightforward arenas to more intricate layouts that include doors to unlock and traps to activate. These design differences affect how enemy waves flow and where players can position themselves.
More elaborate maps also add strategic decision-making, since doors and traps shape how you move and fight.
- Identify trap locations early; they can be used to thin enemy numbers.
- Unlock doors when you need to control the direction of incoming waves.

The game runs on Windows through Steam and integrates several Steam services: Achievements, Leaderboards, and Family Sharing. These features connect the title to the broader Steam ecosystem without altering core gameplay.
Family Sharing lets additional Steam accounts launch the game without purchasing a separate copy, providing access for friends or family members on the same Windows machine.
