About Heat Signature
Heat Signature lets you pilot a pod to any spaceship in a nebula‑filled galaxy, dock, and infiltrate. You can pause anytime, plan with a wide array of gadgets, and execute slow‑mo gunfights or stealth takedowns without time pressure. Each successful mission pushes the liberation of space stations forward, unlocking more gadgets and special challenge characters. The game features randomly generated missions, personal story goals for each character, and a practice mode for risk‑free experimentation. Friends can share rescued characters and named items, adding a persistent community layer despite the single‑player focus.
01 / THE GUIDE
Mission Structure
Missions are generated with random guard equipment, ship layouts, and complications such as space battles. Objectives include stealing loot, assassinating VIPs, or rescuing allies, and each mission can be set to any difficulty from easy to nightmarish.
A practice mode lets you test items and tactics without consequences and with instant restart, while the main mode tracks progress toward liberating space stations, which unlocks new gadgets and challenge characters.
- Try the easiest difficulty first to learn ship layouts before tackling harder missions.
- Use practice mode to experiment with new gadgets before committing them to a real mission.

Gadget Arsenal
A wide range of gadgets—teleporters, stealth shields, subverters, breach grenades, and fuel barrels—are available. You can switch, aim, and fire them without time pressure, allowing complex tricks and modular destruction of ship parts.
New gadgets become purchasable in shops as you progress, and each can be used creatively to solve situations, such as blowing up sections of a ship or shielding yourself from view.
- Combine a stealth shield with a teleporter to bypass heavily armed guards.
- Experiment with breach grenades to create new entry points during a mission.

Character Generation & Personal Missions
Each new life starts with a randomly generated character who has a unique personal goal, such as rescuing a brother or retrieving a stolen gun. When a character dies, you continue with a new one in the same galaxy.
Each personal mission is a grand heist for that character to work towards, and retired characters let you pass on a named item for future characters or friends to discover.
- Pay attention to a character’s personal goal; it can guide mission choice.
- When retiring a character, choose an item that might be useful for future runs.

Friends Content
If a friend’s character is captured, you may encounter a mission to rescue them; succeeding unlocks that character for you to play, though the original friend loses access. Retired characters can pass on a named item that appears as loot for both you and your Steam friends.
These features add a persistent community element without multiplayer, allowing shared stories and item discoveries across separate playthroughs.
- Check for rescue missions that involve a friend’s character for extra variety.
- Name passed‑on items clearly; they become searchable loot for both you and friends.
