About Hard Truck 2: King of the Road
Hard Truck 2: King of the Road (2000) drops you into an open‑world road network where you start with almost nothing. You take cargo contracts, drive across highways and backroads, and earn money to grow a trucking company.
Beyond deliveries, the game offers races, time trials, obstacle courses and one‑on‑one track events. A day‑night cycle, traffic, police chases, bandit attacks and visual effects such as fog and sun glare add variety to each haul.
02 / THE GUIDE
Cargo Contracts and Finance
You accept contracts to deliver cargo across the highway network, earning money that can be spent to expand your fleet and hire drivers. Choosing profitable routes and managing expenses influences financial success.
Building a trucking company involves reinvesting earnings to purchase new trucks, increase the number of contracts you can handle, and grow the overall business.
- Select contracts whose pay matches your truck’s capacity for efficient earnings.
- Reinvest profits into additional trucks rather than optional upgrades.

Rival Drivers, Police, and Bandits
Other drivers compete for the same contracts, creating on‑road competition that may force you to adjust speed or route. Police patrols and helicopter pursuits add legal risk when traffic rules are broken.
Bandits can attack you on the road, which adds an extra layer of hazard to each haul.
- Maintain legal speeds in areas with visible police to avoid fines or chases.
- Stay alert on isolated shortcuts where bandit ambushes are more likely.

Racing and Time Trials
When not delivering cargo, you can race other rig‑masters in time trails, obstacle courses, and one‑on‑one track races. These events offer a driving-focused change of pace from freight work.
Racing events provide a high‑speed alternative to freight work.
- Practice on the same tracks used for races to learn optimal braking points.
- Observe how different trucks handle acceleration and handling during time trials.
05 / THE GUIDE
Truck Variety and Features
The game includes twelve different trucks, including 18‑wheel big rigs. Visual effects such as exhaust, tire marks, fog and sun glare enhance realism.
Speed traps trigger police car chases and helicopter pursuits, adding dynamic challenges that vary with the chosen vehicle.
- Test each truck’s handling on a short route before committing to a long haul.
- Use trucks with better acceleration on routes with frequent stops.
