About Hand of Fate
Hand of Fate fuses deck‑building, roguelike progression, and action‑RPG combat into a single‑player experience. Players collect cards that represent encounters, gear, and mysteries, then arrange them into a personal deck that determines the sequence of dungeon floors.
The game renders each drawn card as a fully modelled 3D asset before combat begins, and features hundreds of weapons, armor, artifacts, and other items. Full controller support and Steam services such as Achievements, Cloud saves, and Leaderboards are available on Windows, macOS, and Linux.
01 / THE GUIDE
Deck Building Mechanics
Cards representing encounters, items, and gear are collected and placed into a deck that the player customises. The deck dictates the order of challenges encountered during a run, letting players shape the adventure’s difficulty and theme.
Each run draws cards randomly from the constructed deck, creating an infinitely replayable series of quests. The ultimate aim is to assemble a deck capable of defeating the Jack, Queen, and King of each suit.
- Try different card mixes to see how encounter variety changes the flow of a run.
- Balance offensive and defensive cards to handle unpredictable combat situations.
02 / THE GUIDE
Roguelike Progression
Hand of Fate uses a roguelike structure where each run is self‑contained; death ends the current adventure and a new deck can be tried. The thirteen gates at the world’s end mark the ultimate challenge.
Because runs are independent, players can repeatedly test new deck configurations without permanent penalties, encouraging experimentation across multiple attempts.
- Treat each death as a learning opportunity to refine your deck for the next attempt.
- Adjust your card pool after each run to gradually progress toward the final gates.

Visceral Action‑RPG Combat
When a combat encounter begins, all cards in the player’s hand appear as fully modelled 3D assets, and the player engages in real‑time hack‑and‑slash combat. This blends strategic card play with immediate action.
Combat is described as visceral, emphasizing fast‑paced fighting that complements the card‑driven setup of each encounter.
- Practice timing and positioning in early combats to build confidence for tougher battles.
- Observe how different weapon cards affect your fighting style and adjust accordingly.

Gear, Items, and Artifacts
Hundreds of weapons, armor, artifacts, and other items can be unlocked and added to the deck, influencing both the cards drawn and combat performance. These additions make each playthrough feel distinct.
Game‑changing gear is highlighted as a core way to differentiate runs, encouraging players to seek out new equipment as they progress.
- Track which items synergise well with your preferred combat style.
- Prioritise unlocking a variety of gear to expand your deck‑building options.
