About Green Hell VR
Green Hell VR puts you in the role of Jake Higgins, an anthropologist stranded deep in the Amazon rainforest. Staying alive means keeping hunger, thirst, fatigue, and mental health in check while facing predators and tropical diseases that can strike without warning. With no help from the outside world, you craft your own tools and weapons, build shelters, and treat wounds using realistic VR interactions. The jungle offers day and night cycles alongside shifting weather, and a story told through a familiar voice gradually reveals how you ended up in this hostile place.
01 / THE GUIDE
Crafting System
Because you arrive with almost nothing, crafting becomes your closest ally. In VR, you physically find the right elements and combine them to make tools, weapons, bandages, and more, which makes the process feel far more authentic than menu-based systems.
Experimentation matters: some ingredient combinations work well, while others are ineffective or even harmful, particularly when preparing medical brews. Learning which materials pair together is a core survival skill.
- Collect a wide range of materials before attempting complicated items.
- Try out unfamiliar combinations carefully, since a bad mix can cost you valuable supplies.

Base Building
Sleeping on bare jungle ground is risky, so constructing a shelter is a priority. You can raise a temporary refuge or pick a promising spot, gather materials, and build a fuller base where you can cook food found during exploration and stay protected from dangers lurking in the shadows.
Choosing where to settle shapes your routine, since a well-placed camp lets you cook, rest, and store the fruits of your expeditions.
- Scout a location before committing to a large build.
- Build a shelter early so you are not caught exposed at night.

Healing Mechanics
Health care is hands-on: you inspect your limbs, bandage wounds, and extract parasites through direct interaction. Beyond basic treatment, you can experiment with different remedies to survive in the wild.
Plants hold medical potential that you unlock by mixing them into brews. Be cautious, though—some ingredients do not go together, and the wrong pairing can make a bad situation worse.
- Keep basic bandages ready for immediate wound treatment.
- Note which plant mixtures help and which harm before relying on them.

Resource Management
Survival revolves around balancing hunger, thirst, fatigue, and mental health. You can hunt your dinner or avoid killing animals altogether, since fruits like coconuts and bananas, unknown mushrooms, and various plants, bulbs, and nuts offer alternatives.
These foods may supply proteins, carbohydrates, and fats—or have the opposite effect. Environment and body condition also influence your sanity, so staying careful about what you consume is essential.
- Sample unfamiliar foods cautiously; some may damage rather than nourish you.
- Watch your mental state, since your surroundings and physical condition affect sanity.

Narrative and Environment
You follow the familiar voice of a loved one through the endless, inhospitable jungle, and what you discover about your situation turns out to be worse than the struggle to survive itself. The setting is a deadly yet beautiful rainforest, complete with human-made structures to explore and a multitude of animal and plant species.
Day and night pass alongside changing weather conditions, and with almost no visible UI—your backpack and map exist as physical objects—the world stays highly immersive throughout.
- Use your physical backpack and map rather than expecting on-screen menus.
- Explore human-made structures for story context and useful finds.
