About Gilded Shadows
Gilded Shadows is a visual novel that blends solarpunk and cyberpunk aesthetics on the divided planet Arcalis. Players follow Morgan Leone, a hidden Esper, as she navigates factions, choices, and a world split between eternal day and perpetual night.
The game offers 30‑40 hours of narrative, personality‑based locks, and six distinct love‑interest routes at launch, each with its own stand‑alone story and multiple endings. A flowchart tracks progress, and the official soundtrack is composed by Tobi Weiss.
01 / THE GUIDE
World and Faction Overview
Arcalis features massive bio‑domes that shelter inhabitants from harsh climate, with bright day‑side cities and crime‑ridden night‑side settlements. The planet’s history includes an abandoned past and ongoing conflict between factions seeking Morgan’s Esper abilities.
Key groups include Endgame (planetary defence), Crimson (Delphine crime syndicate), and the mysterious Host, each sending operatives to capture Morgan. The setting emphasizes a grey twilight where moral lines blur.
- Observe how each faction’s motives differ when making choices; this can affect which interactions become available.
- Use the flowchart to revisit earlier decisions and see how they branch toward different faction outcomes.

Love Interest Routes
Players can pursue one of six love interests in the initial release, each providing a stand‑alone narrative that diverges from the common route. Every route contains at least 100,000 words and three possible endings.
Future updates plan to add three more love interests, expanding the total to nine. Each route is self‑contained, allowing players to experience unique plots without affecting other storylines.
- Focus on a single love interest per playthrough to fully explore its unique plot threads.
- Note the personality‑trait locks that may open or close specific dialogues with each love interest.

Main Character Customisation
The game allows players to customise Morgan’s appearance and personality before beginning the story. These choices influence which interactions and responses become available throughout the routes.
Customisation does not affect the core narrative length but can lock or unlock certain dialogue options, reflecting the player’s chosen traits.
- Experiment with different personality settings to see how dialogue options shift in early scenes.
- Record which traits open unique interactions for later reference.

Flowchart Progress Tracker
A built‑in flowchart visualises the player’s journey, marking choices, branch points, and completed routes. This tool helps manage the extensive 100,000+ word routes and multiple endings.
The flowchart helps track progress through the story, giving players a reference for planning subsequent playthroughs.
- Use the flowchart after each major decision to confirm which branches remain untried.
- Take screenshots of the chart for personal reference when revisiting earlier routes.
