About Galimulator

Galimulator is a single‑player simulation that creates a random galaxy filled with empires, wars, politics, research and odd events. The engine generates dynasties that rise from paper pushers to captains, ministers or emperors before meeting a fate such as conquest, internal strife or monster attack. New powers constantly replace the old, forming a perpetual interstellar cycle.

The game runs on Windows, macOS and Linux and supports family sharing. Players can choose between three distinct ways to engage: passive observation, unrestricted tinkering, or direct empire leadership via a flagship.

Game Modes

Galimulator offers three primary ways to experience the galaxy. Observer mode lets you watch empires battle, research and evolve without any input, providing a pure view of the simulation’s dynamics.

Sandbox mode grants full freedom to alter the simulation, such as throwing meteors or forcing empires to degenerate. Emperor mode places you in command of a flagship, allowing you to boost expansion, build ships and manage a spy network.

  • Start in Observer mode to learn typical empire behavior before intervening.
  • Switch to Sandbox after a few sessions to test extreme scenarios like massive meteor showers.

Empire Activities

Empires can wage war to conquer stars, build ships, research new technology and create strange artifacts. They also encounter space monsters and embark on intergalactic quests.

Political strategies can be switched between expansion, fortification and other options, influencing how each dynasty pursues power and reacts to threats.

  • Observe how a shift to expansion changes war frequency.
  • Note when monster encounters precede major power shifts.

03 / THE GUIDE

Emperor Mode

In Emperor mode you control a flagship that can boost expansion and defense for your empire. You also build and command ships and manage a spy network.

These tools let you steer an empire through wars, research and political changes while still seeing the broader galaxy’s reactions.

  • Use the flagship’s boost when an empire faces heavy attack.
  • Balance ship construction with spy activities for both offense and intelligence.

04 / THE GUIDE

Sandbox Freedom

Sandbox mode removes most restrictions, allowing you to manipulate the galaxy at will. You can make empires degenerate, launch meteors, or simply observe the outcomes of your interventions.

The mode acts as a laboratory for testing how different actions affect empire survival, technology spread and overall galactic balance.

  • Launch meteors at key star systems to see how wars shift.
  • Create rapid empire collapses to study the emergence of new powers.

05 / THE GUIDE

Galactic Lifecycle

The simulation runs a continuous cycle where empires rise, achieve greatness and eventually meet an end—crushed by stronger races, internal strife, monster attacks or other fates.

When an empire falls, new ones emerge, keeping the galaxy in perpetual flux and providing endless variety across playthroughs.

  • Track several empires to notice common causes of decline.
  • Compare outcomes of empires focused on expansion versus fortification.
