About Fright Train
Fright Train drops you into a third‑person action survival horror roguelike set aboard a massive train racing across Antarctica. As a paranormal special agent you must keep the locomotive moving while fending off monsters that stalk the icy wasteland.
The train’s corridors are procedurally generated, forcing you to scavenge for credits, upgrade weapons, and manage a tactile inventory. Completing objectives unlocks cosmetics and leads you toward the extraction point atop the locomotive before the train reconfigures itself.
01 / THE GUIDE
Core Premise
The game places you on the L.R.S. Great White, a research locomotive owned by the secretive SHARK corporation. A distress signal draws you into its monster‑infested corridors, where stopping the train risks exposure to the blizzard’s abominations.
Your primary goal is to reach the extraction point on the locomotive’s roof while maintaining the train’s operation, gathering resources, and confronting enemies that appear during deadly storms.
- Observe how the train’s motion affects enemy spawn timing.
- Compare the train’s layout across multiple runs to spot recurring landmarks.

Procedural Train Exploration
Each playthrough generates a new arrangement of train cars and rooms, requiring you to adapt your route and search for credits. These credits let you unlock new cars and purchase items from vending machines.
The ever‑changing layout encourages careful scouting and strategic planning, as you never know which section will house vital supplies or hostile encounters.
- Map the train’s sections as you discover them to reduce backtracking.
- Prioritize exploring larger cars first for higher credit yields.

Inventory Management
Items are displayed on the character’s body, and retrieval speed varies by location—magazines on the chest are quicker to insert than those on the lower back. This physical representation adds a tactical layer to load‑out decisions.
Balancing big and medium‑sized items becomes crucial, as you must juggle weapons, ammo, and utility objects while navigating tight corridors and combat scenarios.
- Arrange frequently used ammo on the chest for faster reloads.
- Keep bulky items in less accessed slots to maintain mobility.

Combat Ecosystem
Enemies exhibit intertwined behaviors, sometimes supporting or sabotaging one another. Some foes wear armor and expose weak points, rewarding players who learn to exploit these vulnerabilities.
The volatile combat system demands observation of enemy patterns, as targeting weak spots can turn the tide against groups that would otherwise overwhelm you.
- Focus fire on exposed weak points to bypass enemy armor.
- Watch for enemy interactions that may create openings.

Fright Train features semi‑realistic stylized graphics paired with a B‑movie inspired narrative. The adaptive soundtrack shifts with the action, enhancing tension during storms and combat.
Subtitle options, custom volume controls, and adjustable difficulty let players tailor the experience while enjoying stereo sound and full controller support.
- Adjust volume sliders to emphasize the adaptive soundtrack during storms.
- Enable subtitles if you prefer to follow the B‑movie style dialogue closely.
