About ForgeTax
ForgeTax drops you into a dark, first‑person roguelite where each hammer strike can raise a blade’s value or shatter it entirely. You heat a sword, strike the anvil, and gamble on luck while the dragon watches your forge.
The game blends simulation and strategy: forge repeatedly, feed swords to a relic machine, and decide when to pay tribute to the dragon for another round. Success rewards you with higher‑value swords, while failure invites the dragon’s impatience.

Forging Mechanics
Each hit at the anvil can increase a sword’s value, but a mis‑timed strike may cause the blade to shatter. The core loop revolves around heating a blade, bringing it to the anvil, and deciding whether to push its worth higher.
The process is repeated for every sword you create, and each successful strike pushes the blade’s value higher. The risk‑reward balance defines each playthrough’s pacing.
- Observe how often strikes succeed before attempting higher‑risk hits.
- Compare the value gains of early versus later swords to gauge optimal timing.

Frenzy Charge
Forging the same sword ten times fills a Frenzy meter. Once charged, the next hit grants a brief, blazing window where strikes cannot shatter the blade.
During Frenzy you can hammer without fear of breaking, allowing a large value boost in a single moment. The window ends after the next hit.
- Plan your ten identical forges to align with a high‑value target.
- Use Frenzy when you need a safe, high‑gain strike.

Relic Machine
The relic machine accepts swords as input, reducing the number of blades you can offer the dragon. Each sword spent creates a draw ticket that can be combined for strange effects.
By merging tickets you can turn modest advantages into larger, synergistic value. The machine encourages strategic sacrifice of swords for long‑term gain.
- Experiment with different ticket combinations to see which effects scale best.
- Balance the number of swords given to the relic against those kept for the dragon.

Dragon Tribute
After forging, you place swords on the counter and ring a bell to meet the dragon’s tribute. Paying the dragon grants another round at the anvil.
If you fall short, the dragon’s patience wanes, hinting at a penalty beyond the forge. Deciding what to keep or sacrifice becomes a central strategic choice.
- Track how many swords you need to satisfy the tribute before each round.
- Consider holding back a high‑value sword for later tribute cycles.
