About Folk-Tography
Folk‑Tography drops up to four players into Folk Valley as cryptid hunters, tasked with photographing, hunting, and surviving legendary creatures. Each expedition mixes cooperative exploration with a photo‑rating system that rewards focus, framing and subject fill.
Survival hinges on three vital stats—Health, Stamina and Sanity—while players must clear scattered paranormal anomalies before calling for extraction. Successful runs earn currency to customize hunters and expand a personal cryptid field guide.
01 / THE GUIDE
In‑Depth Camera & Photo Rating
Every snapshot is graded on Focus, Framing and Fill. Keeping the subject in the focus meter prevents blur, while centering the creature improves composition. Getting close enough lets the subject dominate the frame, boosting the overall rating.
Higher ratings translate into larger payouts at extraction, encouraging players to balance steadiness, composition and proximity while avoiding movement that drains the focus meter.
- Try staying still when a cryptid appears to keep the focus meter from draining.
- Compare shots taken from different distances to see how Fill impacts the rating.

Health, Stamina & Sanity
The valley forces players to monitor Health, Stamina and Sanity. Food and supplies can be scavenged from abandoned campsites and caches, helping to sustain these vital resources.
Sanity drops when straying from trails or approaching certain cryptids, causing audio‑visual hallucinations. If it falls too low, darkness begins to damage Health, making light sources essential.
- Stick to well‑lit paths to keep Sanity from dropping quickly.
- Share found food with teammates to collectively manage stamina.

Clearing Paranormal Anomalies
Each expedition includes a set number of anomalies that must be located and cleared before extraction. Anomalies are short challenges—such as repairing a generator or investigating a crashed UFO—that can place the team in danger.
Teams can split up to cover more ground faster, or stay together for safety. Some anomalies carry consequences if handled incorrectly, adding risk to the decision.
- Coordinate who tackles each anomaly to avoid overlapping danger zones.
