01 / THE GUIDE
Core Movements
The control scheme consists of four actions—Run, Jump, Dash and Attack. These are the only inputs required to navigate platforms, avoid hazards and defeat enemies, forming the foundation of every level’s design.
Because each action is distinct and responsive, players can combine them in rapid sequences. Mastery of these combos is necessary to progress through increasingly difficult sections that test timing and precision.
- Practice chaining dash into attack to close gaps quickly.
- Observe enemy patterns to time jumps and dashes effectively.

Level Variety
Flat Heroes contains over 300 handcrafted levels that gradually increase in difficulty. Each level introduces new obstacles that require refined use of the core movements, ensuring a steady learning curve.
Although the visual style is minimalistic, each level is accented with striking effects that highlight speed and impact, reinforcing the game’s eye‑candy appeal without adding extra mechanics.
- Replay earlier levels after learning new techniques to improve scores.
- Watch visual cues that hint at hidden hazards.

Couch Co‑op
Up to four friends can join you on any mode, sharing a single screen. The drop‑in, drop‑out design lets participants enter or leave without interrupting the current session.
Co‑op play adds a social layer, allowing teammates to coordinate runs, dashes and attacks. The shared screen encourages collaboration to overcome obstacles that may be harder for a single player.
- Coordinate dashes to cover each other’s blind spots.
- Assign simple roles, such as one focusing on attacks while another handles platforming.

Boss Fights
The campaign culminates in ten unique final bosses, each with distinct attack patterns and movement challenges. Defeating them relies on precise use of the four core actions.
The bosses are presented as epic encounters, standing out within the game’s minimalist aesthetic.
- Study each boss’s pattern before committing to an attack.
- Use dash to evade large‑area attacks.
