Campaign Levels
Over 20 new levels span diverse environments such as grassy fields, dry deserts, sparkling cities and an infernal volcano lair. Each level presents a unique layout that encourages different maze‑building strategies.
The campaign is designed for a single‑player experience and is estimated to take more than 20 hours to complete, giving ample time to explore the new weapons and map features.
- Try placing towers near natural choke points to maximize the effect of air‑strikes and mines.
- Experiment with bridges and tunnels early to see how they alter enemy routing.

Weapon Variety
Fieldrunners 2 introduces 20 unique, upgradeable weapons, including a tower that launches bee hives and another that turns enemies into barnyard animals. Weapons can be upgraded and combined into custom loadouts for each battle.
Air strikes, mines and powerful items add precision options, letting players strike enemies where it hurts while shaping the battlefield with creative firepower.
- Mix a long‑range tower with a mine‑based trap to cover both early and late wave phases.
- Use the bee‑hive tower to target clustered groups that survive initial shots.

Gameplay Modes
Beyond the main campaign, the game offers Puzzle, Sudden Death and Time‑Trial maps, each presenting a distinct challenge style. Puzzle maps focus on optimal tower placement, Sudden Death tests endurance, and Time‑Trial measures speed.
These modes add replay value by requiring players to adapt strategies to different win conditions rather than relying on a single approach.
- In Puzzle maps, prioritize towers that cover multiple lanes to reduce the number needed.
- For Time‑Trial, place high‑damage towers early to clear waves quickly.

Graphics Style
The visual presentation features gorgeous, hand‑painted 2D graphics created by award‑winning artists. This artistic direction gives each environment a distinct look while keeping the battlefield clear for strategic planning.
The stylized art also reinforces the game’s light‑hearted tone, making the intense defense action feel approachable for casual players.
- Notice how terrain colors change between levels; this can help you spot optimal tower placement spots.
- Use the visual contrast of enemies against the background to gauge wave density at a glance.

Custom Loadouts
Players can assemble custom loadouts, selecting the perfect combination of weapons for each battle. Loadouts are flexible, and the game's weapons can be upgraded as players refine their setups.
This system encourages experimentation, as different enemy types and map layouts may favor certain weapon mixes over others.
- Before starting a level, review enemy types and choose towers that counter their speed or armor.
- Swap out a high‑damage tower for a utility tower if the map includes many narrow passages.
