Historical Nations
Field of Honor includes a roster of nations from each era. Napoleonic Wars nations range from France and Britain to the Ottoman Empire and Westphalia. The Revolutionary War lets you play as the United States or Great Britain, while the Civil War offers Union and Confederate forces.
Each nation provides its own artillery, cavalry, and infantry units, giving a distinct flavor to the battlefield. Each nation fields its own units across the three categories, giving both FPS and map‑based command a distinct flavor.
- Compare unit compositions across nations to find a style that matches your preferred combat role.
- Experiment with different eras to experience varied nation rosters and historical settings.

Dual Command System
Players can command their army either from a strategic map or directly in first‑person view. The map lets you move corps and issue orders, while the FPS mode allows you to charge, attack, or move individual units.
You may also leave friendly units under AI control and focus on fighting as a single soldier, blending personal combat with large‑scale tactics.
- Use the map to position units before switching to FPS for precise engagements.
- Let AI handle peripheral units while you concentrate on key objectives in FPS.

Battle Modes
Four modes shape the gameplay experience: Conquest, Defense, Assault, and Custom Battle. Each mode offers a different gameplay focus, giving players varied ways to experience large‑scale battles.
Custom Battle lets players design their own engagements, providing flexibility for varied tactical experiments.
- Try each mode to discover which objective style aligns with your strategic preferences.
- Use Custom Battle to test unit combinations before playing standard modes.

Unit Types
Every nation fields three categories of units: artillery, cavalry, and infantry. These categories appear across all eras, ensuring a consistent tactical framework while allowing each nation its own visual and statistical variations.
Melee combat is supported, letting players wield swords or bayonets and lead charges, adding a personal combat layer to the larger battle.
- Balance artillery, cavalry, and infantry to cover both ranged and close‑quarters needs.
- Utilize melee options for decisive bayonet charges when infantry engagements tighten.
