About Feed the Scorchpot
Feed the Scorchpot is a single‑player strategy game where you manage an island under a dragon’s protection. Each year the dragon awakens hungrier, so you must harvest ingredients, combine them into recipes, and cook them in the Scorchpot to keep the pact alive.
The island is built on a hex‑grid using farms, shrines and harbors, and the game offers over fifty building types and eighty recipes. Dice rolls determine ingredient yields, and the resulting meals affect your score and the dragon’s mood.
01 / THE GUIDE
Island Building
You place farms, shrines and harbors on a hex‑grid island, and each structure changes how the board pays out. The placement of a few tiles can evolve into a larger network that influences later scoring.
Buildings interact with one another, so the arrangement of farms, shrines and harbors can create chains that boost overall production. Understanding these interactions helps you plan a layout that scales over many seasons.
- Try grouping complementary buildings early to see how their payouts combine.
- Observe how a new tile changes the board’s total payout before adding more.

Dice Rolling and Recipes
Each season you roll dice to harvest ingredients, then fuse those ingredients into recipes. The game includes more than twenty dice types, such as odd, even and colored dice, which give varied ingredient results.
Recipes add Flavor and Essence values that multiply your Fodder score. By selecting different ingredient combinations you can explore how each recipe impacts the final score.
- Track which dice types appear most often to guide ingredient collection.
- Experiment with mixing low‑ and high‑multiplier recipes to see their effect on score.

Scorchpot Mechanics
The Scorchpot is the central cooking vessel; a successful meal lets you prosper, while a failed meal results in “smoke.” The pot’s status reflects whether the dragon is satisfied for that season.
Keeping the meals coming keeps the contract alive, and each year you stay raises the stakes with harsher odds. Managing the pot’s outcome is therefore a core part of staying in the game.
- Balance risk by mixing recipes with different Flavor and Essence values.
- Watch the pot’s result each season to gauge how the dragon’s appetite is changing.

Difficulty and Luck
The game includes adjustable difficulty, which changes how harsh the dragon’s odds become each year. Finishing in fewer seasons yields a larger payoff, but staying longer raises the stakes.
The dragon may trigger a tantrum that torches the board, forcing you to rebuild. Deciding when to press your luck versus playing conservatively is a recurring decision.
- Start on a moderate difficulty to learn how odds tighten over time.
- Consider the payoff increase against the higher chance of a tantrum before committing to a fast finish.

Visual and Thematic Style
All dragons, buildings and meals are hand‑drawn by artist Daniela, giving the game a warm, cohesive aesthetic that contrasts with the underlying fire‑based tension.
The hand‑drawn icons also serve as visual cues for building functions and recipe components, helping players identify options quickly during a busy season.
- Notice how each icon’s style hints at its in‑game role.
- Use the consistent art language to speed up decision‑making when the board becomes crowded.
