About Fantasy Empires
Fantasy Empires lets you start as a kingdom leader and expand into an empire using classic D&D races such as humans, elves, orcs, dwarves, humanoids, and the undead. A computer‑driven Dungeon Master mediates diplomacy, troop movement, and combat, providing a fully single‑player experience.
The game supports up to four AI opponents drawn from a pool of twenty, offers real‑time tactical battles with an overhead view, and lets you send heroes on quests while constructing a variety of buildings and fortifications. It runs on Windows and includes Steam Cloud and Family Sharing.
01 / THE GUIDE
Computer Dungeon Master
The hallmark of Fantasy Empires is a computer‑controlled Dungeon Master that mediates all elements of gameplay, handling diplomacy, troop deployment, and combat resolution without a human referee.
This Dungeon Master relies on AI and Neural Network technology, so interactions with races and allies follow programmed diplomatic tactics that shape empire growth.
- Watch how the Dungeon Master reacts to alliance offers to infer its diplomatic patterns.
- Compare early‑game decisions with later outcomes to see the AI’s influence on empire development.

AI Opponent Selection
Players can face up to four adversaries at once, each chosen from a pool of twenty computer‑controlled opponents, creating distinct strategic challenges.
These opponents represent various D&D races and tactics, requiring you to adapt troop composition and diplomatic approaches for each encounter.
- Test different opponent combinations to discover which troop mixes counter specific AI strategies.
- Note each opponent’s race to anticipate likely diplomatic stances.

Troop Types and Special Forces

In addition, deployable special forces provide unique capabilities that can turn the tide during both strategic maneuvers and real‑time tactical battles.
- Balance standard troops with special forces to maintain flexibility in offense and defense.
- Experiment with race‑specific units to see how their abilities complement each other.

Building Construction and Fortifications
Players can construct a variety of buildings and fortifications as part of growing their empire.
Fortifications can be built to strengthen your kingdom's borders.

Real‑Time Tactical Combat
When combat occurs, the view shifts from the strategic map to a tactical screen that shows real‑time action from an overhead perspective.
The overhead view displays unit movements, terrain, and engagement outcomes, allowing you to issue commands and react to AI tactics during the fight.
- Watch the overhead view to identify choke points and adjust troop placement accordingly.
- Observe AI combat patterns to refine your real‑time command timing.
