About F.E.A.R.

F.E.A.R. is an action title that places players in a cinematic conflict of tension and terror. A paramilitary force attacks an aerospace complex, prompting the elite First Encounter Assault Recon team to intervene. The story continues after the original game’s climax, with the team forced to find a new extraction point while battling Alma and paranormal foes. An expansion, Perseus Mandate, adds a second team investigating Armacham’s hidden projects, though its multiplayer is no longer available.

01 / THE GUIDE

Storyline

The narrative begins with a mysterious paramilitary assault on a multi‑billion dollar aerospace compound, leading to a massacre captured on live footage. The government dispatches a Special Forces team, which is wiped out, prompting the formation of a new elite squad.

The new team’s mission is to evaluate the threat and eliminate the intruders, setting the stage for the events of Extraction Point and the later Perseus Mandate expansion.

  • Observe how the opening footage frames the stakes before gameplay begins.
  • Compare the tone of the original mission with the later expansion’s investigative focus.

02 / THE GUIDE

Extraction Point

Extraction Point picks up where the original game ended, with the team’s helicopter crashing instead of departing. This forces the squad to locate an alternate extraction point across a devastated city.

Players must confront Alma, now free, and her paranormal minions while navigating the ruined urban environment.

  • Use the crash scenario to anticipate changes in level layout.
  • Note the contrast between open‑city combat and earlier confined spaces.
