About Exanima
Exanima is a 3D isometric RPG set in a dark, low‑fantasy underworld. The game centers on a physics‑driven combat system where momentum, forces and precise collisions shape every encounter, demanding careful input over rapid button presses.
Beyond combat, a large non‑linear main game is among the planned additions, an arena mode for practice, and planned LAN multiplayer. Developed with a proprietary engine, it serves as a prelude to the larger Sui Generis project while delivering a complete dungeon‑crawling experience.
01 / THE GUIDE
Physics‑Based Combat
Combat relies on a truly physics‑driven system; real momentum, forces and collisions are always active. This makes each attack’s angle, timing and force a decisive factor, creating a skill ceiling that can feel infinite.
The developers stress that the system is central to gameplay, not a visual effect. Players must attend to tactical details, as casual button mashing will not succeed in the nuanced encounters.
- Watch how attack direction changes enemy knock‑back.
- Experiment with timing to harness momentum.

Skill Progression
Per‑session and global skill progression is a planned feature intended to let abilities evolve over time. Early content can be completed to build and permanently save characters.
Skill growth ties directly into the combat system, rewarding players who master its physics. New close‑quarter manoeuvres are among the planned additions that could expand tactical options.
- Focus on a core skill set before branching out.
- Re‑run early encounters after upgrades to notice changes.

Arena Mode
An arena mode exists for players to hone combat skills in a controlled environment. It offers a sandbox where maneuvers can be tested without narrative pressure.
Future updates promise more complete arena game modes, including outdoor arenas, extending the space for experimentation with the physics‑driven system.
- Use the arena to trial new close‑quarter moves.
- Observe which attacks generate the strongest force.

Planned LAN Multiplayer
Cooperative and competitive LAN multiplayer are announced as forthcoming features. These modes will build on the existing single‑player foundation.
When released, multiplayer will employ the same physics‑driven combat, allowing emergent interactions between multiple players in the underworld.
- Master solo combat first to ease the transition.
- Consider how shared physics may affect group tactics.

Moddable Thaumaturgic Powers
The game plans to include numerous moddable thaumaturgic powers, expanding magical options that integrate with the combat physics.
Modding support suggests players can customize or create new abilities within the framework, potentially adding fresh tactical layers.
- Test existing powers to gauge their physics impact.
- Watch community mods for creative uses of thaumaturgy.
