About Escape Goat 2
Escape Goat 2 builds on the original’s puzzle‑platform core with over one hundred hand‑drawn rooms. Each room mixes traps, movable or destructible walls, and hidden machinery that the goat must navigate to reach an exit.
The sequel adds HD graphics, a custom lighting engine, and a 90’s‑style Redbook audio soundtrack. It remains a single‑player experience with full controller support and includes a built‑in level editor that can share creations via Steam Workshop.
01 / THE GUIDE
Puzzle Rooms
Every room presents a distinct challenge that blends platforming with environmental puzzles. Players must manipulate destructible or movable walls and operate hidden machinery to open a path toward the exit.
The design encourages discovery; solving one trap often reveals a new route or mechanic. The Stronghold’s ten zones each contain rooms that build on earlier ideas, prompting players to experiment with the tools they have.
- Observe how walls react before committing to a move; some break while others shift.
- Look for recurring trap patterns, as recognizing them can speed up later rooms.

Mouse Familiar
The goat is accompanied by an immortal mouse familiar that can crawl into tight spaces the goat cannot reach. The mouse can activate switches that are otherwise inaccessible.
Because the mouse cannot be harmed, players can send it into hazardous zones without penalty, using it to trigger mechanisms while the goat focuses on platforming sections.
- Send the mouse ahead to hit distant switches before attempting a platform segment.
- Remember the mouse is immortal; it can explore dangerous areas safely.

Art & Lighting
All visuals are fully hand‑drawn in high definition, giving each room a distinct aesthetic. A custom lighting engine brings the hand-drawn rooms to life with dynamic lighting.
The lighting creates atmosphere and can draw the eye to details in each room as players decide where to act.
- Watch for lighting changes; they can signal hidden mechanisms.
- Appreciate the hand‑drawn details—they may hint at puzzle solutions.

Soundtrack
Escape Goat 2 features an epic 90’s Redbook audio soundtrack, including a guest track by Disasterpeace, known for composing FEZ. The soundtrack provides a retro-inspired backdrop.
The soundtrack’s consistent style reinforces the indie atmosphere and accompanies the player as they solve puzzles and explore each zone.
- Listen to the guest track as a highlight of the game’s audio design.
- Enjoy the consistent retro style; it helps maintain focus during puzzles.

Level Editor
Escape Goat 2 includes a built‑in level editor that lets players craft their own rooms using the same mechanics found in the main game, such as movable walls, switches, and traps.
Created levels can be saved and shared through Steam Workshop, allowing the community to experience and solve each other’s designs while using the documented puzzle tools.
- Experiment with the editor’s machinery to discover new puzzle ideas.
- Publish your levels to the Workshop to see how others tackle your designs.
