About Escape Academy
Escape Academy drops you into a quirky school where students train to become elite escapists. Over a dozen hand‑crafted rooms, each designed by real‑life escape‑room experts, challenge you with puzzles ranging from bomb‑defusing tea parties to water‑filled towers.
The game supports solo play, two‑player co‑op and split‑screen PvP, and a later Tournament of Puzzles update adds three new arenas, extra game modes and power‑ups while keeping the same whimsical, sometimes lethal atmosphere.
01 / THE GUIDE
Curriculum Rooms
The core experience consists of themed rooms presented as Academy classes. "Tea 'N Tea Party" tasks you with defusing a bomb before the tea cools, while "Do Not Drown!" places you at the base of a water‑filled tower where you must climb for oxygen.
Other classes include "Hack the Professor," a rapid series of challenges for the Academy’s AI, and "Spray Paint the Monument," a timed art assignment that the Headmaster disapproves of. These rooms form the bulk of both single‑player and co‑op content.
- Notice the room title and visual cues; they often hint at the central puzzle mechanic.
- Pay attention to any described timer or hazard and plan actions before they become critical.

Co‑op and Split‑Screen Play
Escape Academy lets two players tackle rooms together via local or online split‑screen. Both participants share the same view of the puzzle space, encouraging communication and joint problem‑solving.
The same split‑screen setup also supports competitive modes, letting friends race or battle in puzzle‑focused PvP arenas such as Escape Race or Tic‑Tac‑Toe.
- Agree on simple role divisions early; one can handle inventory while the other manipulates mechanisms.
- Use voice chat or quick call‑outs to keep track of time‑sensitive tasks.

Tournament of Puzzles Update
The major content update, "The Tournament of Puzzles," adds three new arenas—Tomb of the First Escapist, Hackannery, and The Showman's Studio—each featuring secret passages and alternate routes that expand exploration opportunities.
It also introduces new game modes such as Escape Race, Tic‑Tac‑Toe and Scavenger Hunt, plus a set of power‑ups that appear during matches, offering additional tactical options.
- Explore each arena on a first run to locate hidden passages; they often provide shortcuts or extra puzzles.
- Observe how power‑ups affect the flow of a match before relying on them for critical moments.

Controller and Platform Features
Escape Academy runs on Windows and offers full controller support, including DualShock and DualSense compatibility. Settings such as Camera Comfort, Color Alternatives and Custom Volume Controls let players tailor visual and audio experiences.
Steam services like Achievements, Trading Cards, Cloud saves, Remote Play Together and Family Sharing are integrated, providing cross‑platform multiplayer and shared progress features.
- Adjust custom volume controls to balance music and puzzle sound cues.
- Enable Camera Comfort if you prefer a steadier view during fast‑paced modes.

Audio and Sound Design
The soundtrack and sound design are created by doseone, known for work on titles like Gang Beasts and Enter the Gungeon. Stereo sound enhances environmental cues, helping players locate hidden mechanisms or impending hazards.
Custom Volume Controls let you adjust audio levels so important sound cues aren’t lost amid background tracks.
- Adjust the volume settings so subtle clues are easier to hear.
- Listen for directional audio cues in water‑filled or dark rooms.
