About Empty The Lake!
Empty The Lake! puts you in charge of draining a full lake using a simple bucket. You carry water to a truck, earn money, and spend it on better tools. Each upgrade lets you move more water per trip, work faster, and reach deeper levels.
As the water recedes, hidden objects, structures, and secrets appear, giving a visual reward for each drop removed. The game runs at your own pace, with no timed inputs and the ability to save anytime.
01 / THE GUIDE
Core Gameplay Loop
You start with a basic bucket and manually scoop water from the lake. Each bucketful is carried to a truck where it is deposited for cash. The cash earned from deliveries is used to purchase upgrades.
The loop repeats: scoop, transport, sell, upgrade, then repeat with improved efficiency. This cycle continues until the lake is fully drained, revealing everything beneath.
- Focus on completing several trips before purchasing an upgrade to maximize early earnings.
- Observe how far you can carry before the truck to gauge when a speed upgrade becomes worthwhile.

Upgrade System
Upgrades are bought with money earned from delivering water. They include larger buckets, higher extraction power, and faster movement between the lake and truck. Each upgrade directly reduces the time needed per cycle.
There is no mention of limits; upgrades simply make draining the lake quicker and allow you to reach deeper levels as the water level falls.
- Prioritize bucket capacity upgrades early to increase each trip's value.
- Consider movement speed upgrades after you have a larger bucket to avoid wasted travel time.

Visual Progression
The lake starts completely full, concealing everything beneath. As water is removed, the lake level visibly drops, gradually exposing objects, structures, and hidden secrets.
This visual change provides a clear sense of progress, letting players see new content appear with each reduction in water level.
- Take a moment after each major drop to note new details that become visible.
- Use the visual cues to decide which upgrades will most improve your view of the lake.

Single‑Player Pacing
The game is labeled single‑player and includes tags for playing at your own pace and without timed input. You can pause and save at any moment, allowing you to manage how quickly you progress.
This design lets players decide how much time to invest in each draining session, making it suitable for casual play or longer sessions alike.
- Save before attempting a large upgrade to easily revert if you change your mind.
- Take advantage of the no‑timed‑input design to experiment with different upgrade orders.
