01 / THE GUIDE
Campaign Story Mode
The single‑player campaign follows the Dungeon Lord’s quest for vengeance, guiding him from the depths of the underworld to the surface human cities. Missions are presented with dark humor and numerous references to fantasy books, movies, and TV shows.
Two playable factions are available, alongside 26 unique creatures and multiple types of heroes. This distinction creates separate strategic approaches when defending your kingdom or launching assaults on human settlements.
- Compare the objectives of early and late missions to see how the narrative expands the scope of conflict.
- Observe which faction’s creature pool aligns with your preferred balance of defense and offense.

Monster Recruitment
You can recruit fearsome monsters from all corners of the underworld, drawing from a roster of 26 unique creatures. Each recruited unit becomes part of the army you use to construct defenses and launch attacks.
The choice of monsters influences both dungeon layout and battlefield tactics, because each creature brings its own abilities that can be directed through the Hand of Terror.
- Try mixing monsters with complementary abilities to discover effective combinations.
- Note which creatures perform better in underworld versus overworld engagements.

Hand of Terror Control
The Hand of Terror lets you take direct control of minions, issue targeted commands, and even deliver a slap to keep them in line. This tool works during both dungeon management and real‑time battles.
Using the Hand of Terror at key moments can shift the flow of combat, allowing rapid reactions to hero incursions or coordinated assaults on human cities.
- Reserve the slap function for moments when a unit is acting contrary to your plan.
- Practice issuing commands in both underworld and overworld scenarios to become comfortable with the timing.

Multiplayer Modes
Four competitive multiplayer modes support up to four players via LAN or Internet, letting you face off against other Dungeon Lords. Each mode presents its own objectives and strategic considerations.
Matches can be played across Windows, macOS, and Linux, providing cross‑platform compatibility for friends on different systems.
- Test each mode to identify which objective set matches your preferred playstyle.
- Coordinate with teammates to balance dungeon construction and battlefield aggression.
