About Dungeon Warfare

Dungeon Warfare casts you as a dungeon lord tasked with stopping greedy adventurers across more than 40 handcrafted levels. Killing invaders grants experience that can be used to permanently upgrade your traps.

The game features 26 distinct traps, each with three upgrade tiers and passive upgrades, plus 12 difficulty‑mode runes, an Endless mode unlocked by the Infinity rune, a level editor, and over 30 Steam achievements, all presented in vivid pixel art.

01 / THE GUIDE

Traps and Upgrades

You begin each dungeon with a selection of traps that can be placed to block or damage invading adventurers. Every trap has three upgrade tiers, and killing enemies yields experience that can be spent to permanently improve those tiers.

In addition to tier upgrades, traps receive passive upgrades that further modify their behavior. These passive upgrades accumulate as you progress through the 40+ handcrafted levels, giving you more tactical options without adding new trap types.

  • Try pairing traps whose passive upgrades affect similar enemy traits.
  • Prioritize upgrading traps that you use most often in a level.

02 / THE GUIDE

Difficulty Runes

The game provides 12 difficulty‑mode runes that can be combined to adjust the challenge of any level. Adding a rune increases the challenge, allowing you to tailor the difficulty to your current trap setup.

Rune combinations let you experiment with different mixes to find the challenge level that suits your setup.

  • Start with a single rune to see its effect before adding more.
  • Mix runes that target different enemy attributes for a balanced test.

Endless Mode

Endless mode becomes available after you obtain the Infinity rune. In this mode, waves of adventurers continue indefinitely, challenging the durability of your trap configuration.

The mode uses the same traps and upgrades you have unlocked, so success depends on how well you have optimized your defenses across previous levels.

  • Enter Endless mode with your strongest available traps.
  • Observe which traps hold up longest under continuous pressure.

04 / THE GUIDE

Level Editor

Dungeon Warfare includes a built‑in level editor that lets you design custom maps. The editor is included as a feature of the game.

Maps made with the editor can be shared through Steam Workshop, allowing other players to download and play your creations.

  • Begin with a simple layout to learn the editor’s tools.
  • Test your custom level with a few trap placements before publishing.

05 / THE GUIDE

Achievements

The game tracks progress with more than 30 Steam achievements, giving you goals to pursue as you play.

These achievements give concrete goals that encourage you to explore different traps, runes, and modes, providing a clear sense of progression.

  • Review the achievement list early to set short‑term objectives.
  • Target achievements linked to trap upgrades to strengthen your defenses.
