About Drop Pockets
Drop Pockets is a strategic roguelike that uses billiards as its core system. Players cue a range of objects—from classic pool balls to hockey pucks and even a model of Jupiter—each of which can either extend a run or end it instantly.
At the end of every round a Pool Shark appears and imposes new rules, such as altered physics or added obstacles. The game also offers trinkets, baubles, chalks, racks and cues that can be combined for many point‑earning configurations.

Gameplay Loop
Each session begins with a cue shot that launches a ball onto the table. The ball’s inherent power may boost the player’s progress or halt it, creating a clear cause‑and‑effect relationship for every shot.
When a round ends, a Pool Shark intervenes, changing the table’s conditions. This forces the player to reassess the next shot, making adaptation a central part of the loop.
- Watch how the first ball behaves before planning later shots.
- After a Shark appears, pause briefly to note any new obstacles.

Ball Variety
Beyond ordinary pool balls, the game includes objects such as hockey pucks and a representation of the planet Jupiter. Each object carries a distinct power that can either carry the run forward or stop it dead.
The differing powers encourage players to experiment with combinations, as the effect of one ball may change when paired with another, influencing both scoring and survival.
- Test each ball type in a low‑risk round to learn its effect.
- Pair a high‑impact ball with a safer one to balance risk.

Pool Sharks
Pool Sharks wait at the end of every round, ready to cut the run short by applying new rules to the table. Their interventions may change physics, add obstacles, or flood the table with additional balls.
These changes reshape the playing field, requiring the player to quickly adjust strategy and shot selection for the next round.
- When physics change, observe the new ball trajectories before shooting.
- Use newly added obstacles as potential aids when possible.

Trinkets and Upgrades
Players can rack up points by collecting trinkets and baubles, which are described as a way to get rich quick. Items and upgrades are available for acquisition during play.
Dozens of chalks, racks and cues can be combined, offering many potential builds that affect how balls behave and how points are earned.
- Track which trinket gives the highest point return per run.
- Experiment with different cue‑chalk combos to see their impact on ball movement.
