About Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen
Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen drops players into a massive open world where action combat is central. The world feels alive, populated by monsters, towns, and a vast underground area called Bitterblack Isle.
Players are joined by up to three AI companions called Pawns, which learn from each player’s actions. Pawns can be shared online, letting others borrow them for quests that need specific skills.
01 / THE GUIDE
Dynamic Combat
Combat lets you target specific enemy parts, such as cutting off a Hydra’s heads, and to fight airborne foes by climbing onto griffins. The system rewards learning each creature’s weakness, which is necessary for dragons and other terrifying monsters.
The game encourages experimentation: players can try different tactics, like climbing griffins for aerial advantage or using weapons that exploit a monster’s weak spot, and see how enemies react.
- Observe enemy patterns before committing to a strike.
- Use the environment, like climbing griffins, to gain positional advantage.

Pawn System
Pawns act independently and develop abilities based on traits learned from the player they accompany. Each Pawn can be customized to fit a desired combat style, and they continue to grow even when not directly controlled.
PC users can share Pawns online, receiving treasure, tips, and strategy hints in return. Other players may also borrow a Pawn when a specific skill is needed for a challenging quest.
- Borrow Pawns with skills you lack for challenging quests.
- Share well‑trained Pawns to receive useful hints.

Customization Options
Players can choose from nine vocations, each offering a distinct set of skills. Vocations range from melee‑focused fighters to magic‑using spellcasters, giving a broad tactical palette.
Armor can be upgraded and enhanced, and Pawns can be trained to complement the player’s chosen vocation. This depth lets you tailor both character and companion to meet the demands of tougher foes.
- Experiment with different vocations to find a preferred skill mix.
- Upgrade armor regularly to keep pace with tougher foes.
