About Donut County
Donut County is a story‑driven physics puzzle game where you control an ever‑growing hole that swallows objects and environments. The hole expands each time you devour something, letting you reach new areas and eventually consume the whole county.
The game was created by Ben Esposito after six years of solo development and is available as a single‑player title on Windows and macOS. It includes full controller support, Steam achievements, Steam Cloud, Remote Play on TV, Family Sharing, and Steam Trading Cards.
01 / THE GUIDE
Hole Growth
Moving the hole lets you swallow objects, and each swallowed item makes the hole larger. This growth is described as a core part of the gameplay, allowing you to progress by becoming big enough to engulf bigger structures.
Because the hole’s size changes the scale of the world you can interact with, new pathways open as you grow, enabling you to explore deeper into each character’s home.
- Observe how the hole’s size changes after swallowing different groups of objects.
- Plan routes that let you reach larger objects once the hole has expanded.

Character Environments
Each resident lives in a uniquely themed home, providing distinct visual styles and object layouts. Exploring these spaces reveals narrative details and supplies the items needed for later puzzles.
The environments are arranged so that objects can be swallowed, combined, or catapulted, encouraging interaction with the hole to solve location‑specific challenges.
- Take a moment to look around each room for objects that might be useful later.
- Notice visual cues that suggest how objects could interact when merged.

03 / THE GUIDE
Object Combination
Swallowed items can be merged inside the hole, producing effects such as cooking soup, breeding bunnies, or launching fireworks. These combinations are presented as part of puzzle solutions or whimsical outcomes.
The description highlights several specific results, indicating that certain groups of items are designed to interact when combined.
- Try pairing food items together to see if a cooking effect appears.
- Observe which objects produce visible changes when merged.

Catapult Feature
After swallowing items, you can launch them back out of the hole, effectively catapulting objects. This can place items where they are needed for puzzles or simply cause destruction.
The catapult action adds a layer of strategy, allowing you to affect the environment without moving the hole itself.
- Use catapulting to place objects where you need them from a distance.
- Experiment with launch angles to reach higher platforms.
