About Diplomacy is Not an Option

Diplomacy Is Not an Option is a base‑building real‑time strategy where you defend a castle against waves of over twenty‑five thousand enemies on procedurally generated maps, while juggling construction, troops, and resources.

You must raise armies, build fortifications, master engineering, manage an economy of food, wood, stone, iron and gold, and wield an active‑pause magic spell. The game offers four modes—Endless, Story Campaign, Challenge, and Sandbox—plus a map editor for custom medieval‑fantasy scenarios.

01 / THE GUIDE

Game Modes

Four single‑player modes shape the experience: Endless offers endless enemy waves; Story Campaign follows a narrative about the king and peasant revolt.

Challenge adds special constraints, while Sandbox removes limits, letting you build freely on procedurally generated maps.

  • Try Endless first to gauge enemy scaling.
  • Use Sandbox to experiment with fort layout without resource pressure.

02 / THE GUIDE

Economy & Resources

Your city’s economy rests on five core materials: food, wood, stone, iron and gold, each required for troops, buildings and upgrades.

Gathering, storing, and allocating these supplies is essential; shortages can starve soldiers or halt construction, exposing your castle to enemy incursions.

  • Monitor food levels early to avoid starvation.
  • Use the merchant dirigible for emergency stone or food deliveries.

03 / THE GUIDE

Combat Physics

Projectiles follow realistic trajectories; arrows, catapult stones and even launched enemies are physically modeled, affecting how they travel across the battlefield.

Place towers with clear sight lines and design kill‑zones, otherwise your own fortifications may block fire and reduce effectiveness.

  • Pause to verify line of sight before building.
  • Adjust tower placement to prevent friendly fire.

04 / THE GUIDE

Magic & Dark Arts

Dark arts let you harvest soul crystals and summon massive fireballs that incinerate enemy ranks, adding a magical layer to sieges.

Magical monuments amplify these spells, but misuse can raise undead hordes that threaten your own citizens, requiring careful balance.

  • Build a monument before casting large fireballs.
  • Keep undead counters in mind when harvesting crystals.

05 / THE GUIDE

Map Editor & Custom Scenarios

A built‑in map editor lets you design your own scenarios within the medieval fantasy setting, placing terrain, resources and enemy spawn points.

These custom maps can be shared through Steam Workshop, extending replayability beyond the four core modes.

  • Start with a simple layout to test resource flow.
  • Export maps for community feedback via Workshop.
