About Deer Hunting - The Season 2
Deer Hunting – The Season 2 is an open‑world hunting simulation where you manage private land across several U.S. states. At launch you can hunt on properties in Nebraska and Missouri, with future locations slated for Iowa, Wisconsin, Colorado, and Saskatchewan.
The game follows a seasonal cycle that begins with spring turkey season, moves through summer and fall, and ends in a cold winter where food plots become the primary attractant for deer. You may hunt using compound bows, rifles, shotguns, or muzzleloaders, and the single‑player experience includes adjustable difficulty, custom volume controls, and both stereo and surround sound.

Land Management
Each property you own can be tended with food plots that are tuned for early‑season or late‑season feeding needs. Planting the appropriate plot influences herd health and the chance of a trophy buck during the upcoming season.
Trail‑camera photos let you assign names to individual deer, providing a way to track growth from year to year across your properties. Managing these elements together helps you maximize herd size over multiple seasons.
- Check trail‑camera images before naming a deer to keep records clear.
- Place food plots where they match the season you plan to hunt.

Species Roster
The launch roster includes Whitetail Deer and Mule Deer as primary targets. Additional species such as Eastern Turkey, Merriam Turkey, Rio Grande Turkey, Elk, Black Bear, Moose, Bighorn Sheep, Coyote, and Wolves are listed as future additions.
As the wildlife roster expands, you may need to adapt your hunting approaches to the new animals that become available.
- Focus early seasons on deer to build herd size before later species appear.
- Consider each species' typical environment when selecting a hunting location.

Seasonal Cycle
Gameplay starts in spring during Turkey Season, then proceeds through Summer, Fall, and ends in a harsh Winter where food becomes the ultimate draw for deer. Seasonal changes affect animal behavior and hunting conditions.
Winter scarcity makes food plots especially valuable, while spring offers abundant turkey activity for early‑season hunting. Planning your hunts around these shifts can improve success rates.
- Adjust food‑plot planting to match early or late season needs.
- Plan larger buck hunts as the season progresses toward fall.

Weapon Variety
You can hunt with compound bows, rifles, shotguns, and muzzleloaders, giving flexibility for different game and personal preference. Each weapon type aligns with specific species and typical engagement distances.
Choosing a weapon that matches the usual distance and size of your target can improve shot placement and increase the likelihood of a trophy.
- Test each weapon type early to gauge comfort and handling.
- Match weapon range to the usual distance of the species you are hunting.
