About DEATH NOTE Killer Within
DEATH NOTE Killer Within is an online social deduction game for groups of up to ten players. Everyone is placed on one of two rival teams, and each side must work out who the others really are while chasing its own victory condition. The result is a tense battle of wits set in the DEATH NOTE universe, where deception and deduction matter more than reflexes.
Matches take place entirely online, and cross-play lets large groups join the same session. Players can also express themselves between rounds of scheming: avatars can be customized with unlockable items, custom nameplates, and a special animation that plays during dramatic moments of a match.

Win Conditions
The two sides pursue opposite goals. The Kira team wins by eliminating L, the figure who threatens Kira's power, while the L team wins by getting hold of the Death Note itself. A match ends when one team accomplishes its objective first.
Because the Death Note is hidden among the players, every round becomes a cat-and-mouse contest. Both teams must decide when to act openly and when to stay concealed, since revealing too much can hand the advantage to the opposition.
- Spend the early game gathering information about other players before committing to any decisive move.
- Consider how your current objective should shape your behavior, whether you need to hunt a person or an item.

Team Roles
Every player is assigned a randomized role on either Kira's side or L's side of investigators. Each role has its own characteristics, which opens up a wide range of possible strategies depending on what you draw.
Since scenarios are randomized, no two matches unfold the same way. Teams that can adapt their tactics to their assigned roles and to the evolving situation are the ones most likely to come out on top.
- Talk with teammates about how your role's traits can complement theirs.
- Watch how others behave for clues about which side they are really on.

Multiplayer & Cross‑Play
Sessions support up to ten players, and cross-play makes it possible for large groups to play together in the same match. With two full teams in play, every participant has a meaningful part in the deduction.
The game is designed for online play and cannot be played in offline mode, so an internet connection is required. Voice chat is recommended, since clear communication is central to coordinating a social deduction game.
- Check that your connection is stable before joining a match.
- Agree on how your group will communicate before the match starts.

Avatar Customisation
Players can personalize their avatar with up to seven types of unlockable items, choose a custom nameplate, and select a special animation that is displayed during dramatic moments of gameplay.
These options are cosmetic in nature, letting you stand out at the table and mark key moments with a personal flourish rather than changing how the game itself plays.
- Pick a special animation that suits the moments you most want to mark.
- Combine unlockable items and a nameplate to build a recognizable identity at the table.

Technical Features
The Steam listing advertises full controller support, and the game also includes Steam achievements, Steam Cloud, and Family Sharing. Achievements give dedicated players extra goals to pursue alongside the core matches.
Note that a Special Edition of the game also exists, so take care not to buy the same product twice. As an online service title, its content may change or end without prior notice.
- Check which edition you are purchasing to avoid a duplicate buy.
- Browse the achievement list for extra long-term goals beyond winning matches.
