About Death end re;Quest
Death end re;Quest follows Arata Mizunashi, a programmer who receives a mysterious email from his missing colleague Shina Ninomiya. Shina is trapped inside the virtual world they created, World’s Odyssey (W.O.D.), and can only escape by completing the game.
The player alternates between a real‑world investigation view and an in‑game view, battling glitched monsters and making choices that affect the ending. The narrative blends horror, AI themes, and a 1 % perfect‑ending challenge while offering turn‑based combat that can shift genres on the fly.
01 / THE GUIDE
Reality and In‑Game Switching
Players must toggle between a real‑world perspective and the virtual W.O.D. environment to uncover clues. The real‑world view is used for investigation, while the in‑game view handles combat and exploration. The switch is integral to solving puzzles and progressing the story, as each perspective reveals information the other does not.
- Pause to note clues in the real‑world view before entering combat.
- Use the switch to backtrack if a battle feels unwinnable.

Turn‑Based Command Battles
Combat is presented as a turn‑based system where players can roam freely while confronting monsters. During battles, the genre can shift, allowing first‑person shooter or fighting‑game mechanics to appear. This flexibility lets players adapt strategies, using the turn‑based core while experimenting with temporary genre changes.
- Observe enemy patterns before triggering a genre shift.
- Save powerful moves for bosses that react to genre changes.

Character‑Specific Dungeon Skills
Each character possesses unique dungeon skills that unlock hidden areas and treasures. Activating these abilities is required to reach otherwise inaccessible sections of W.O.D. Skill use is tied to exploration, encouraging players to experiment with each character’s toolkit.
- Test each skill in a safe area before tackling a locked door.
- Combine skills from different characters for complex puzzles.

Decision‑Driven Endings
Choices made throughout the game influence the final outcome. The perfect ending has a 1 % success rate, making careful decision‑making crucial. Multiple endings exist, each reflecting the player’s handling of narrative and combat events.
- Save before major decisions to compare outcomes.
- Consider the narrative impact of each choice, not just combat advantage.
