About DATE A LIVE: Rio Reincarnation

DATE A LIVE: Rio Reincarnation adapts the Fujimi Fantasia Bunko light novel series that inspired multiple anime seasons and a movie. Set thirty years after catastrophic spacequakes, the story follows high‑schooler Shido Itsuka, the only person able to seal the powers of disruptive Spirits. The game lets players guide Shido through over 150 dating events with eleven main characters, plus additional dialogue with Rio Sonogami and ten sub‑characters. Choices shape Shido’s destiny, aiming for each girl’s true ending while also offering previously PlayStation‑only routes and newly localized light novels.

01 / THE GUIDE

Character Selection and Dating Events

Players can choose from eleven main characters and engage in more than 150 dating events, influencing the narrative. The game also introduces Rio Sonogami as an exclusive character and provides conversations with ten sub‑characters for extra story content. Each interaction can affect Shido’s overall destiny, offering the chance to achieve a true ending for a favorite girl.

  • Explore conversations with sub‑characters to uncover hidden story elements.
  • Balance choices across events to keep multiple routes viable.

02 / THE GUIDE

Localized Light Novels

Three light novels—Rinne’s Bathtime, Arusu’s Quest, and Rio Reunion—are newly localized in English within the game. Each novel includes rough sketches and comic strips, expanding the narrative beyond the main routes. These additions give fans additional context and humor, enriching the overall experience.

  • Read the sketches for visual clues about character personalities.
  • Use the novels to better understand each Spirit’s background.

  • Compare the new Event CGs with the originals to notice updates.
  • Replay the earlier routes to fully understand each character’s arc.

  • Enable Steam Cloud to keep progress across multiple PCs.
  • Collect trading cards for a visual showcase of your playtime.

Simulation Gameplay

Classified as a simulation, the game focuses on relationship building and narrative choices rather than combat. Players manage Shido’s interactions to influence outcomes and unlock various endings. The genre emphasizes decision‑making and character development within the DATE A LIVE universe.

  • Track each character’s preferences to make effective choices.
  • Save before major decisions to explore alternative outcomes.
