About Cursed Companions
Cursed Companions is a co‑op horror experience where every player carries a forbidden word. Speaking that word causes damage, while saying specific phrases can heal allies or disable traps. The game constantly listens to player voice input, turning everyday conversation into a strategic tool.
Dungeons are procedurally generated, offering a fresh layout each run. Players can tackle solo, cooperate, or hunt a hidden traitor in a social‑deduction mode, while unlocking skins and customizing a personal home base.
01 / THE GUIDE
Voice‑Activated Gameplay
Each participant receives a cursed word such as "Okay" or "I think"; uttering it inflicts damage on the speaker. Conversely, uttering designated phrases can heal teammates, light torches, or disarm traps. The system continuously monitors spoken words, making silence and word choice critical.
The voice system also interacts with monsters: saying the wrong words may awaken or aggravate them, while correct phrases can repel or defeat foes. This creates a dynamic where conversation directly influences survival.
- Keep a mental list of your forbidden word to avoid accidental damage.
- Coordinate phrase usage with teammates to maximize healing or trap‑disabling effects.

Procedural Dungeons
Every run generates a new dungeon layout, ensuring no two experiences are identical. The depths are extensive, encouraging players to navigate carefully to avoid getting lost. Randomized monster placements and trap locations keep each session fresh.
Because the environment changes each playthrough, players must adapt their strategies on the fly, using voice commands and magical items to overcome unforeseen challenges.
- Mark landmarks verbally to help your team remember safe routes.
- Explore cautiously; unexpected traps may appear in any new corridor.

Co‑op and Traitor Modes
Co‑op Mode lets the team work together against monsters and traps, while Traitor Mode introduces a hidden saboteur who can secretly hinder progress. Players can call an Emergency Meeting to vote out a suspected traitor.
Challenge Mode offers tougher dungeons, Endless Mode tests survival length, and two standalone boss stages provide focused encounters. Each mode emphasizes different aspects of voice strategy and teamwork.
- In Traitor Mode, observe who avoids helpful phrases; they may be sabotaging the group.
- Use Emergency Meetings sparingly to avoid unnecessary team disruption.

Unique Monsters
The game features over twenty monsters, many of which react to voice input. The Foul Moth punishes players who swear, while the Meatgrinder can be sent away by shouting a specific line. Each creature has distinct triggers tied to spoken words.
Understanding each monster’s verbal weakness allows players to neutralize threats without combat, turning dialogue into a defensive tool.
- Memorize monster‑specific phrases to quickly disable them during tense moments.
- Avoid profanity around the Foul Moth to prevent unnecessary damage.

Magical Items
Players can acquire equipment such as the Teleport Stone, Ice Wand, and Stink Potions. These items can be used creatively alongside voice commands to survive dungeons and fend off monsters. Items are unlocked through achievements and in‑game progress.
Strategic item use complements verbal tactics, offering additional ways to navigate traps, control crowds, or escape dangerous situations.
- Combine the Teleport Stone with a calming phrase to reposition safely.
- Experiment with potions while monitoring monster reactions for optimal effect.
