About Crucible Beta

Crucible Beta is a free‑to‑play, team‑based action shooter where four‑person squads battle for survival and control on an alien planet. Players choose from ten distinct hunters, each equipped with a full set of weapons and abilities from the start of every match.

Matches revolve around collecting Essence, defeating alien hives, and capturing three “hearts” to win. Players can unlock upgrades as they level, shaping their hunter’s damage, utility, or survivability while adapting to dynamic environmental challenges.

01 / THE GUIDE

Hunter Choices

Crucible offers ten hunters, each with a unique ability set, allowing players to match their preferred combat style—whether melee, fire‑based, or versatile weapon use. All hunters begin each match with their full arsenal ready at the word “go.”

Before a match, players select upgrades that will become available as they level up, letting them emphasize damage, utility, or other traits. The choice of hunter and upgrades defines each player’s approach to the fight.

  • Experiment with different hunters to discover which ability complements your playstyle best.
  • Consider balancing damage upgrades with utility upgrades for flexible responses to changing match conditions.

02 / THE GUIDE

Essence and Leveling

Essence is a collectible substance obtained from killing opponents, alien creatures, or controlling objectives. Gathering Essence raises a player’s level, unlocking pre‑selected upgrades for the first five levels and additional power thereafter.

Higher levels grant more health and stronger abilities, encouraging players to continuously seek Essence while managing combat and objectives.

  • Prioritize objective control to secure steady Essence flow.
  • Stay near fallen enemies to quickly collect their Essence before opponents.

Hive and Heart Mechanics

Hives are drone‑spitting enemies that appear across the battlefield. When a hive is destroyed, it leaves a “heart” that teams can capture. Securing three hearts first wins the match.

Teams must coordinate to eliminate hives while defending captured hearts, blending combat with objective control.

  • Assign a teammate to guard captured hearts while others focus on hive elimination.
  • Use the environment to flank hives and reduce their drone attacks.

Multiplayer Features

Crucible supports online PvP matches for four‑on‑four teams. The game includes partial controller support, captions for accessibility, and family sharing for eligible platforms.

In‑app purchases are available, though the core gameplay remains free to play.

  • Enable captions if you need visual cues for in‑game audio.
  • Test controller input early to ensure comfort before competitive play.
