About Cross Tails
Cross Tails is a tactical strategy RPG that follows the long‑standing war between the canine Kingdom of Ranverfurt and the feline Republic of Hidiq. The narrative can be experienced from either side, eventually revealing a hidden third force that shapes the conflict.
Combat unfolds on a 3‑D quarter‑view grid where turn‑based actions consider terrain height and unit facing. Players develop characters through a mix of class changes, skill trees, faith choices, and rune‑enhanced gear, creating a deep tactical experience.
01 / THE GUIDE
Class System
Every main character possesses a fixed base class and may adopt a primary job plus a secondary subclass drawn from a pool of twenty‑four distinct classes. This arrangement lets players shift a unit’s role, for example from a defensive knight to a ranged archer, to meet tactical needs.
The ability to change jobs is tied to character level; as a unit gains experience, more class options become viable. This encourages players to experiment with different pairings throughout the campaign, adapting to new challenges as they arise.
- Try several main‑job and sub‑class combos early to see which pairings complement your battle plan.
- Consider how a class’s movement and attack range interact with the terrain before committing to a change.
02 / THE GUIDE
Skill Trees
Each of the twenty‑four jobs includes its own skill tree where active and passive abilities can be learned or strengthened. Passive abilities acquired from the tree become equippable items, expanding a character’s tactical options.
The number of slots available for equipping passive skills grows as characters level up. This scaling lets players gradually deepen customization, adding new layers of strategy as the story progresses.
- Focus on passive skills that reinforce the strengths of your current job.
- Monitor when additional equipment slots open to plan future skill investments.

Equipment Upgrades
Weapons and armor can be enhanced by attaching rune stones that grant magical effects. These rune‑infused items modify combat statistics, allowing players to tailor gear to a unit’s class or chosen faith.
Upgrading gear becomes increasingly important in later chapters, where enemy difficulty rises. Strengthening armor or weapons with appropriate runes can improve survivability or damage output as battles grow tougher.
- Select rune effects that match the primary combat role of the equipped character.
- Prioritize armor upgrades if you find early encounters overly lethal.
04 / THE GUIDE
Faith Selection
Players may choose a faith—such as a war deity or a commerce deity—that adds bonus values to stats or grants special abilities. Faith choices influence both battlefield performance and certain narrative elements.
Faith can be altered as characters develop, letting players shift strategic focus to align with evolving combat demands or story developments.
- Pick a faith that amplifies the core attributes of your current class.
- Experiment with different faiths in a single encounter to gauge situational benefits.

Demo Limitations
The playable demo covers the storyline up to the end of Chapter 6 of the Republic of Hidiq arc. Within this version, only the main story is accessible; free‑battle modes are not available.
Players can choose a difficulty level for the demo, but any saved progress remains exclusive to the demo and does not transfer to the full release, requiring a fresh start for the complete game.
- Use the demo to test each difficulty setting before deciding on a purchase.
- Focus on mastering core mechanics early, as later chapters build on these foundations.
