About Crimsonland
Crimsonland drops you into a top‑down arena flooded with aliens, zombies, giant spiders, mutant lizards and more. Killing foes grants XP, which raises your level and unlocks perks that modify abilities.
The 2014 remake adds a new chapter, a full art overhaul, six‑chapter quest mode, five distinct survival modes, up to four‑player local co‑op, Steam leaderboards, achievements, cloud saves and full controller support on Windows, macOS and Linux.
01 / THE GUIDE
Quest Mode
Quest mode is divided into six chapters that introduce new enemy types, weapons and perks as you progress. XP earned from destroying monsters raises your level, and each level up presents a perk choice.
Perks selected in quest mode become available in all survival modes, allowing each new session to feel slightly different depending on the talents you chose during the quest.
- Experiment with early perks that boost survivability before focusing on damage.
- Try several weapon‑perk pairings in quest to discover combos that suit later runs.
02 / THE GUIDE
Survival Modes
Five survival modes—Survival, Rush, Blitz, Weapon Picker and Nukefism—use the same pool of unlocked weapons and perks but differ in pacing and objectives. Each mode challenges the player to survive as long as possible under its own rules.
Because perks carry over from quest mode, you can tailor each survival session by selecting talents that match the mode’s tempo, such as rapid reload for Rush.
- In Rush, perks that increase fire rate help keep up with fast enemy spawns.
- Blitz benefits from high‑damage weapons; consider unlocking a shotgun early.

03 / THE GUIDE
Weapon Arsenal
Crimsonland offers 30 unique weapons ranging from a basic pistol to the Shrinkifier 5k. Weapons are unlocked by completing chapters in quest mode and then become usable in every survival mode.
A larger arsenal improves scoring potential because different weapons excel against specific enemy types and in particular survival scenarios.
- Test each weapon in quest mode to learn its effective range before relying on it in survival.
- Pair a rapid‑fire gun with a high‑damage shotgun to handle both swarms and tougher foes.
04 / THE GUIDE
Local Co‑op
Up to four players can join locally via split‑screen to play any game mode, including quest. Co‑op sessions maintain separate leaderboards, allowing groups to compete for high scores together.
All game modes, including quest, can be played in co‑op, and co‑op games have their own separate leaderboards.
- Coordinate perk choices with teammates to cover each other's weaknesses.
- Use a shotgun for crowd control while a teammate focuses on single‑target damage.

Steam Integration
The game connects to Steam for global and friends leaderboards, achievements, stats, cloud saves and trading cards. The game is available on Windows, macOS and Linux.
Remote Play options let you stream the game to phones, tablets, TVs or invite friends via Remote Play Together, extending multiplayer beyond the local screen.
- Check the global leaderboard after each session to gauge performance against the wider community.
- Enable Steam Cloud so progress is retained when switching between computers.
